Why did i have to install my own amp gauge?
Why did i have to install my own morryde?
Why do i have to rip apart totally the ceiling vents to clean the screens?
Why don't the camper come with an accumulator tank.?
Why didn't the camper come with ceiling vent covers?
Why didn't the camper come with a "along back drip guard" So water don't run down the back of the camper. Messing up the window, Black streaks.
Why don't the camper come with a sewer hose storage (PVC thing under the camper)?
Why didn't we get some sewer line connections and sewer line stuff?
Why don't the camper come with HDMI connections.?
Why don't the camper come with bike mount and a adequate bumper to carry bikes?
Why don't the camper come with a reasonable priced TV ?
Why don't the camper come with slide out awnings?
Why don't you get straps and "deflappers" for your awning?
Why do i have to slide open the screen door protector to open the door?
Why, Seriously, Didn't we get a water regulator?
Why does my slide out leave black marks on my carpet? Every time.
Why didn't the camper come with a decent mattress. Really, other than the cheapest pc of crap that money can buy.
Why didn't the camper come with 25ft of white fresh water hose. First thing i had to run out to buy.
Why didn't it come with 110v 30 amp adapters.
Why, It came with two propane tanks and only one battery?

Keep her going.. Post you dislikes and Why's

This is not just at cross roads, It is for all of the manufactures. When we buy campers we are forced to alter,Purchase, modify, replace and customize, and purchase necessary extras.

If stuff like this isn't posted or documented, Manufactures will never get better.

Don't get me wrong, I love my camper, She is awsume for many, many more years to come. !. I would even buy another and lean towards.. But i am just asking "WHY"

Cost is why Dan. Unless all manufacturers offered all the stuff you are talking about, the one that did would be out of business. This is a bottomline business and every buyer is looking for the cheapest RV he can buy and either already has some of the stuff or is new and doesn't realize how much more stuff he needs until after the sale. JMHO.

I realize that.. Just having some fun here. Friends of mine just bought a camper and they could not believe the stuff "EXTRA" then needed or wanted. And i am in the middle of cleaning screen in my ceiling vents and what a pain in the arse. Have to rip everything apart to get to them. The was what gave me the idea of posted the "WHY" thread..

Thought of a few more.

Why didn't i get an extra extension power cord.. The factory wouldn't even reach my very first camp ground connection.
Why did i get "ezlube" hubs. But not the wet bolt kit? $60? I would have paid $60 bucks!
Why D rated tire? OK, got me there.. Did the math. At max load "D"'s are fine even though i switched to E's years ago..
Why didn't i get a "trippod" for camping?

We all know why a banana is bent !. Well at least "us" with engineering degrees.

But why didn't I get an adjusteable dish rack in the dish cupboard.. I ended up with a 12" wide x 32 tall Re-tangle space to stack all my dishes.

Why didn't I get LED Lights? Incandescent are 40 ++ years old?

Why didn't I get a Up to date RV manuals. Why can't i download them? Mine looked to be barbaric and hand sketched and as old as a blade of grass.. My son could put together a better packet of a manuals and information on my camper than what was given.

Why didn't i have the option to choose any of the options i listed above? Instead i had to shop "EBAY" and Amazon.

Why didn't i get an extended warranty for free? instead of $2,500.

Everyone is out for a cheap camper.. HA.. What a scam.. You buy a camper and instantly have to go buy a ton of accessories, Some of which are mandatory purchases and safety concerns.

Out of business,, ha. That is funny. $2000, in accessories they wouldn't even notice. TRUST ME. I golf with one of them. HE TALKS and Has the money to talk. By the end of the day i want to $#*&$#($*&#($*&#>.

Come on, Some of these campers cost more than my house sitting on a basement and a 2.5 car garage!. You think a 25pc of white hose would break the bank?

Guess i had to many beers today.

Why did i get advertizement decals on my unit, Maybe i wanted the necessary extra supplies instead ?.

-My unit came with a 32" 1080p Tv
-My unit came with a 25ft fresh water hose
-My unit came with a basic sewer hose kit (although I did upgrade to a rhino)
-My unit came with a 50/30 and 30/15 adaptor
-My dealer offered the option of a 2nd battery (with enough haggling, he might have even included it)
I got a full 7 year (factory and extended combined) warranty for $1200

When I purchased my unit I negotiated the best price then asked for the following to be included in the deal: tire covers, step carpets, wheel chocks, a fireplace, 2 spare sets of wheel bearings, 5th wheel pin lock, 5th wheel lube plate and a water pressure regulator. I had a difficult time getting the fireplace, but he eventually went for it....

Why didn't the unit come with towel bars in the bathroom or kitchen?

Why do none of the kitchen cabinets contain a space tall enough to contain a modest-sized garbage can?

Nice job "happycampers" Sounds like you haggled in some extra's. I tried with mine but with "o" outcome.. All extra cost and a cost that was substantially more than if i did myself. Dang part markups. Wonder what they soaked you for that TV in real life.

I was at the dealer the other day, A guy was trying to get and complaining about replacing his rear ladder.. ( tree damage)They wanted $150 for the ladder and 2 hours to install. That would be $350 + tax.. WOW .. I would have loved to take that $350 off of my trailer package. I never used it in 7 years. A ladder is $68 if i ordered it directly..

Now your talking Dennis.. Good ones. Towel racks and a garbage can. I have tons of storage. Lots of cabinets but none come even close to a garbage can size in a garbage can space.

How about, Why didn't my camper come with a aux propane hook up for my "baby q" I had to make one up.

They do listen, my 2011 came with a quick disconnect for the BBQ grill...

A lot of buyers are upgrading and don't want all the extras most of you are griping about. I didn't and would have had a fit to pay more more for what I already had. They could put together a "COMPLETE" package for the neophyte but no-one would buy it. Costs too much, contrary to popular belief nickels add up.Edited by: avvidclif

Not Griping, Just asking in a fun "WHY" thread. I go to a lot of camper shows and when ever i see campers set up and events i always go through them, From the largest units to the smallest. I like seeing idea's, Improvements etc.. The number 1 camper in my book is 'crossroads' I wouldn't buy anything else.My next camper will be the same. If folks don't ask why, or ask the questions, improvements may not happen.

If i was neophyte, and buying a camper the the first time I would be in for a rude awakening. Buying the camper i liked for the cheapest price to only find out i have another $3,000 to spend on extra's and i have to install myself or pay someone to install.

Why isn't the 50 amp electrical cord 2 ft. longer?
Why are the coax connectors put so close together? ( It makes it harder to connect cable unless you have small hands.)
Why is the FW fill right next to the electrical plug?
Why are the electrical components right next to the water pump and lines?
Why is the water filter in an area that is hard to get at?

Just asking.

If anyone thinks a dealer is "throwing in" something they are not an informed consumer. Dealers are in business to make money. When they "throw something in" they are simply reducing the already too high profit they make off you slightly and adding those extras you think you are getting for free. If you had done your homework you would have had a pretty good idea of dealer's cost then negotiated up from there. Those items "thrown in" probably cost you double what you would have paid had you negotiated up instead of down from the phony MSRP. Same when you bought your truck. Had you gone to Edmunds, KBB or Consumer Reports you would have paid slightly more than dealer cost rather than a discount off of MSRP. In the time it takes to post on here about the wonderful "throw ins" you could haveliterally saved yourself thousands of dollars.

Our cf30sk does have a large cabinet next to the range that we keep a nice sized garbage can in. We also have an Lp quick disconnect for a grill or other Lp appliance. Some of this depends on which floorplan you purchase. A lot of the other extras are really a personnel choice. JMHO.

Most of these "wants" are called "accessories". Why would I want to have to pay for them from the factory when I already have a collection? Accessories are a dealer thing and are to be negotiated at purchase time.
