Over the past few years we have seen and read of several flooded
RV’s. Some of these incidents involved the RV toilet overflowing when ice or debris
has kept the water flowing after the flush valve has closed.

Would installing an extra in-line water filter to the
toilet be good insurance?????????????

Our city water is filtered with an inexpensive in-line water
filter but I often find calcium in the faucet screens after flushing the water
heater.

Does the water from your on-board fresh water tank get
filtered? Does Crossroads factory install a water filter coming from the fresh
water tank and if so where is it located?

Thank you in advance for your constructive comments.

In all of our years we have never heard or seen such a thing happen.I did forget my rinser was running and made a large mess! I suppose you could install a filter any place you might want or need but keep in mind to install somewhere accessible as they need to be serviced ..JMHO Jb

I too have never heard of this. My toilet is so noisy I am sure I would recognize if the water continued to flow and then I would hold the valve open till I could get the water off. If this really concerns you, a in-line valve could be added to the water line behind the toilet.

Stan,

I am ahead of you on the shut off valve. It now takes
several seconds for the water to completely stop and I am waiting for the day
that the valve malfunctions. At least with a shutoff valve located behind the
Thetford we can easily get by until we get to town for parts.

As we walked to work on a very cold morning, we passed an
RV with water running from every seam of the belly liner. I shut off the water
and located the owner. When we opened the door we found that water from his
toilet had reached ½ ways through the unit. Fortunately water found a good exit
next to some plumbing or it would have been worse. He remembered that the toilet
ball valve worked that morning but the water had not run… ICE.

Here is a post concerning a toilet flood:

They need to come up with a way to install a floor drain.

I like this idea. I would rather have a wet basement than a wet living area.
