We are considering upgrading from our 27RL to a 30SK Patriot. We are towing with a 2008 Ford 250 Diesel and at the size and weight we currently have, we are fine. Company reps feel we can tow the 30 SK with our rig but I'm not so sure.

I know we can tow a house with the Ford but it's the weight I'm concerned about. Anyone towing the 30SK with a 250?

Mike

I would think youcould easily tow that RV with your present truck. Look at our picture below and compare its specs to the one you are contemplating. There is little difference in the weight. Ours tows easily and safely.

Should be fine, according to my info you will have a weight of approx 8900 pounds which will give you a pin weight of 1800 lbs, I have a Cf32BL and my truck is in specs of course mine is a six cylinder Dodge (Truck Wars part???)

You won't have any trouble handling the 30skp with an F-250. We are on our second 30sk with our '07 F-250 and ours is a gasser. Pulls fine for us at 5-6,000 miles per year. Well within all the weight limits of the truck.

That is exactly what we did. 27RL to a 30SKP a year ago. I tow with a 2001 Duramax 2500. You can tell there is almost 3000 more pounds behind when accelerating, but it tows well and I won't be buying a new truck.

I am towing the 30 sk with a 2500 Dodge. My pin weight is about 2200 lbs so I am a little over on my truck gvw because I also have a 35 gal aux fuel tank in the bed plus 2 tool boxes and a rolltop bed cover. But I am well within the truck max rear axle capacity and the tow capacity of the truck. It tows great. No control issues at all. It is much more stable going down the road than anyof the bumper pull TT's and the motorhome I have had in the past. Especially in the wind!

Thanks for the input regarding the 30SK. Is Crossroads still building the 30sk or did the 305 take its place? We like the 11'6" height of the 27 because it allows us to get under some of the underpasses so we want to stay with something under 12 feet max.

Good info. I'll be right at the max gvwr for the truck and am glad to see on these posts that the handling at max weight is OK. I did get into some 30mph crosswinds on the last trip this October and didn't have any issues at all so the old fomo is a solid tow vehicle for sure.

Crossroads is still building the 30sk I believe. You just can't get it in the Patriot addition. I believe you have to go to the 305 version for the Patriot and it is 12' 6" tall.

I'm towing a 30QB with my '07 250 PSD SB CC. We have gone through the hills of Tn. and SD with no white knuckling.

To be honest, I would be comfortable even towing a slightly larger , heavier trailer.

You should be just fine.

I have a 30SKP and tow it with a F-250 5.4 gasser. The only trouble that I've had is towing it up Saluda Mountain (I26 between Spartanburg,SC and Ashville,NC). A bit more torque would be nice, but not necessary. The chassis is a great match for this rig.

Most posters on this thread are right; you do not want too much truck. 3/4 ton vehicle is just right for a 30SKP. Too much truck results in a terrible ride (rough). It beats up the trailer and the truck's passengers. There is nothing wrong with letting speed fall on abnormally steep grades unless you think you have to prove something by hauling butt on all roads and grades
