Just started having problems with the deadbolt. Hopefully this is an user issue (especially since I was in a hurry to leave last weekend). So when I lock the doors (main and rear storage), I have issues in getting the deadbolt to extend. One can use the inside knob to extend it but the key isn't working. The other lock in the same doors work fine. Any thoughts?

Yep there is a recall on those systems from the Manufacture of the locks..... How ever take the lock off of the door and it opens up easy. there is a linkage that come out of it's holes, just reset it. while it is off get the key code off of the lock........A new one is 25.00 from Amazon

Thanks for the response! So do I contact the Dealer I bought it from or CrossRoads or the Manufacturer (who is it) of the locks to get it replaced under recall?

Are you saying another option is to reset it? Why get the key code off? In case I lose the keys? Also what is 25.00 (a new lock or ?).

Thanks much!

Google Fastec recall, you will need your key code that is stamped on your key. I think affected numbers are 300, and 302 to 309?

Hi Bob,
Theoretically, Crossroads is suppose to contact the owners of units with these locks. However, not all owners are registered with Crossroads because some dealers do not send in the registration. Here is the news report that might be helpful. If you contact Crossroads, they should be able to help you. http://rvnewsservice.com/2013/08/08/nearly-3-million-rv-door-locks-recalled/

Good contact at CR is Andi Miles: </span>260-593-3850 ext 2407

Good luck.

Mine broke and i got the whole set up for 25.00 from Amazon. Writing the key code down is smart in case you loose your keys while camping. A good locksmith can cut the key with this code. After I installed the new one took all of minutes, I took the old one apart and found where the linkage came apart.

Wow, guess they don't keepup on rv news. Several millions affected I believe. The Fastec page tells you the procedure to chech if yours are involved.

Wow, now we have to wonder if the information from the suppliers is true especially since they said they would notify the builders. This seriously concerns me. On the way out to my Zinger to see if my lock is on the list!

Just verified that our key is not on the recall list per the link posted by Anaro. Thank you. One less thing to worry about.

Remember to complete step 2 and even if your key is not one of the numbers listed, lock the dead bolt and see if the key can be removed when the key is at 3 and 9 Oclock. If it can be removed that lock is also considered defective and will be replaced under the recall.

x2

Called Fastec and only one of my 2 locks were impacted according to their release letter. However, both physically didn't work. Mentioned that and they are in the process of sending me replacement product (with the same set of keys for front door and back door!!!!). It will be nice to have 4 of the same keys now for the 2 doors rather than 2 sets of 2 different keys. I guess this recall worked out in my favor (assuming that I have no further issues).

My dealer didn't register my camper under my name w/ CR. Called the dealer and no luck. Called CR and they pushed the dealer to register it as well as confirmed that it is now registered.

GO CrossRoads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Called Fastec, my bathroom door was one of the part numbers listed. both my locks operated normally, but they are replacing the bad part number anyway for saftey, and they said they would match it to my front door, so now both will be keyed the same.

Although the first letters were not the same on my key code, the numbers were. Important to try the directions to see if you are affected.

With the door opened, I placed the key in the lock and observed the deadlock bolt move into a locked position. With the key still in this nine o-clock position and the deadbolt still in the locked position the key could be removed and the inside deadbolt lever did not operate to allow the door to be unlocked from the inside. Had the door been closed and this happened then anyone inside could not unlock the door to exit. A little difficulty getting key back into lock but was able to.The lock still operated as it shouldwhen I turned the key backto 12 oclock before removing it

I contacted Fastec at 800-837-2505 and they seemed very helpful, no run around, They state they are sending me replacements that are "easy" to install, I'll update posting when I get kit as to ease of installation.

There must be a more general posting as this recall affects many people outside of the zinger forum alone

This is interesting. The dealer replaced the door lock on my 2010 under warranty about 1 1/2 years ago. I guess I'll have to check out the new lock just in case.

Funny thing is my box trailer has the same type of lock on the side door.Edited by: rv-rick

I have now completed the removal and installation of the replacement lock-cylinders that were sent to me by Fastec. Note that it is best done in bright light, and that the deadlock cylinder is marked with a dot on mine and the main entry cylinder is marked with a M. No tools needed other than the blue key that is included with the kit that removes the cylinders and is used to install the new cylinders. Took a couple tries as the one cylinder appeared to install and operate but could be removed with key when turned to right. I had to retry installing it in with sucess. Be sure yours is retained in the door in all positions. There is a very small dot on door that might be worn with time and the old lock had been sloppy as described in recall. Very few people seem aware of this recall, including our local dealer. I give credit to Fastec in having a good response when I called. If it were not for this forumn I would not have known of recall.
