Is it safe to use cruise control while towing?

Like all other driver enhancement features, cruise control is only as safe as the driver is aware of what's going on around them. Personally I ONLY use cruise when towing on an open multilane freeway without very many cars. If the freeway is crowded or if cars are passing in the opposite direction, I don't use it.

Anytime the speed limit is above 25 mph I use my cruise control, whether I am towing or not.

I use it on flat roads, with light traffic. Up and down hills, or when I might need to react quickly, I don't. Also important to turn on "Tow Mode" for the trans, and not use OverDrive (fifth gear), or whatever your truck calls it.

X2, especially in the hills with towhaul & exhaust brake set.

Yes I use it,.. it's the only way I get my naps in...

Just kidding.

To echo what others have posted I use mine all the time when towing to, but only when I have a bit of real estate between me and the other cars cruising on the open highway.

As an aside, on long trips I periodically change my recline and seat position (I also have adjustable pedals) to prevent fatigue.

Just as safe as any tool used correctly .

When I had our 5'ers, I would use cruise whenever I could set it... towing, not towing, in traffic, no traffic...
(Since I am in da Sowth, snow and ice were not usually a concern as I wouldn't use it then)

It's just another tool like turn signals and brakes...
I figure if my right foot can get off the accelerator and be close to the brake, my reaction time is better !

Oh, and it's on all the time in the class a too - much less driver fatigue to let the cruise handle it and I can focus on my beer and sandwich

As a new member to our forum, and, the RV world, I'm afraid you are getting some "tongue in cheek" info that I hope you recognize for what it is.
