what grease do you use for the ez-lube bearings? Once the hub cab is off, I remove the rubber cap in the center and attach a grease gun to the zerk and pump until i see grease come out... wipe off, place that rubber cap back on and done? Is this the correct procedure? Or am I completely wrong?

Do I need anything other than screw driver to remove hub cap, hand pump grease gun, grease and something to wipe the extra grease off? Thanks.Edited by: anaro

I would not use the easy lube if my life depended on it. I hand pack my bearings and check all brakes at the same time.

X2 on the hand pack. I do mine every two years and consider the brake inspection and bearing inspection very important.

I hand pack mine also. Inspect brakes and grease seals at that time.

I hope Old Farmer means he replaces the grease seals. I do not recommend reusing them no matter how good they look. They are cheap and I use double lip even though not needed if you do not use the ez lube system.

Yup. Replaced all four this year, along with new bearings/races.
I will have to be more explicit on my posts to avoid any confusion.

This is where I got mine. You should pull one drum and see if you can get # off the seal, if not able to get that, then get the # off your bearings, then they should be able to tell what seals you need.

ok, not to sound really dumb but I have never done this and DH has only done it once in his life (a long time ago) but will I need 1 seal for each wheel? I don't want to pull it apart and then wait a long time for the seals. We are taking our first trip of the year either next weekend or the weekend after, was hoping to have it done by then.I would rather not pay someone else to do it as we want to learn to do our own maintenance and care on it. Thanks.
