Will leaving your LCD TV in the camper all winter damage the TV from freezing?
We seem to have LCD in almost everything today, including vehicle instrument panels and they stay out all winter??

I have a Sony and the manual said no temps below 20 degrees. We take our out of the RV.

I have left my LCD's in our trailer for 3 years now with no problems at all. It gets below 0 here too.



I asked this same question 3 years or so ago and got a bunch of different answers and found my owners manual and it told me that my TV's can go below 0 no problem. I think it said -20 was the limit.



Some good advice was dont go out in the trailer in the winter and fire up the TV unless you have the heat on and have defrosted the TV

We leave both of ours in the trailer during winter. No issues so far. We do let trailer warm up for a while when we travel south in early January so televisions can warm up a little before we turn them on.

You would think I would NEVER have to ask that question. I made my living in the TV repair business for many years but that was way before LCD tvs. My gut tells me it's OK but, as was said, don't go into a freezing RV and turn on the TV. I can't imagine that all the warehouses that have TVs in them over the winter and trucks that deliver them are all heated. Also, I doubt that an LCD TV actually has liquid in it. I've broken my LCD display on a cell phone and no liquid spilled out <grin>. I did a Google Search and got no straight answers. Some said yes, some said no and some said "Maybe". OH well, may as well get off the computer and watch the snow coming down like it was December.

No problems in any of my trailers either - we do get sub zero weather on a few days during the winter.

We bought a big LCD from Vann's a couple years ago for Xmas, as I remember the literature that came with, it stated to let the unit warm up before turning it on.
So I can't see where it would hurt one to stay in the camper if those directions were followed.

We have left our TV in the 5er for several seasons out in the elements from -20F to +100F never a problem. In wifey's Jeep both the NAV and rear TV will take sometime to come to color during the below freezing temps.

We leave ours in all winter as well (up in Canada) with no problems. The nav system in the DW's car is lcd asare the dvd screensand they work. We have an lcd (walmart cheapy)in our ice fishing shack too. When ice fishing the tv doesn't usually get much of a warmup but it's been working for 4 years now.
