Update:WOW. I tried to post from my phone and it didn't work and now I'm home. I had the the bell on the slide suck in the frame hole. Frame is bent in some and the bell was jammed through the hole. After a hour with a floor jack and a largepipe wrench I was able to free it and open the slide. I also broke the manual slide out crank on the firstattempt to open it that way. I'm going fix it all myself with better grade products and go from there. Didn't feel like pulling it home from Buckhorn with 40 mph wind so the trailer is in storage there. </span>Edited by: sking

Shane, any idea how the bell got jammed in the first place? The manual crank seems to be a real weak spot. Let us know how you make it better/stronger.

From what I can tell is the frame is weak and the slide motor clutch doesn't engage and click until the bell gets stuck. With the frame bending do to the force of the slide motor, the bell now slides into the hole in the frame that is to big to stop the bell. (make sense)? To fix it I will simply add a stronger gusset plate with a smaller hole that will addstrength to the frame in the area the bell stops. As for the crank shaftpiecethat broke I will go with a solid bar and drill holes for solid T pieces on on each end. The crank is made out of some thin walled tubing that I can bend with my fingers. After all that I will adjust the slide bell to the proper stopping distance so the slide will be in the right spot when pulled in. If this happens to anyone else you can unscrew the bell with a big pipe wrench since the bell is threaded on the shaft. So I will now add a large pipe wrench to my list of things needed for camping

Sounds like that will work. I will have to see how my bell stops and it's location related to the clutch activation. Thanks for the info.

Sking, did you ever get your slide squared away?

I slipped the bracket in place at the campground but have not performed the permanent fix yet. Right now my TT is kept at a campground 75 miles away and I will need to pull it home to do a permanent fix. That should be next month sometime and I will take pictures when I do it. I have to drop the under belly in order to straighten the frame and avoid catching it on fire when I weld my bracket in place.

Sounds similar to problem I am having with my sunset trails slideout. slide is stuck in. Clicks but won't move. manual crank broke off. square shaft under slide will not turn either. Dealer gets it Tuesday. [of course I bought in April 09 so lippert says it is out of warranty] Hope it is not too serious.
There are posts in several forums about the same general problem. Not very impressive .
