Trailer Hitch Sway/Weight Distribution Bars Sounds

Noticed when driving slowly (in a campground, pulling into/out of a parking lot/gas station, etc.) the hitch area is making an awful lot of racket.

Listen here: https://youtu.be/1BPFbztN_I8

I think the sound is either the sway bar or weight distribution bars, or both.

Is this normal? If not, are one or all of the bars too tight?

What setup are you using for anti sway? I'd assume its a frictions type from the sound.
Not abnormal at all though it can be annoying. The sound is it doing its job.

if set up is friction bar with tightening handle ,make sure the wd bars are greased where they go into the head .Plus the ball ,even the small ones on the sway ,have grease on them. When you get into the campground you can just loosen the sway bar handle a bit as it is not needed going slow, this will stop all noise .

It sounds normal, but it would help to see the setup. If you have the bars with chains then the bars should be parallel with the frame & to the ground with both trailer & truck as level as possible, which takes a bit of trial/error to get setup properly. I seen some that had the bars at almost a 45 degree angle sticking up & grinding against the frame, that makes an awful noise. That's the only type of WD hitch I'm familiar with so if some other type I can't help.

Depending on hitch, very normal.

Our round bar/friction sway - the noise was the sway bar. Like a popping as you turned.

The Equalizer we now have (much better hitch BTW), screeches and creaks like you wouldn't believe. But small price to know it's working.

I have bracket jackets, but haven't tried them out yet. The noise is annoying but livable.

If you have Equalizer setup you can purchase a Sway Bravket Jacket that will eliminate the noise. Equal-i-zer 95015150 Sway Bracket Jacket - 1pair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007HRJNIE..._O4gSzbTHZGTHQ
