vehicle towing capacity

I have a 2014 Zinger 33BH and just purchased a 2012 Chev Suburban LTZ 1500. The weight sticker in cabinet says certified dry weight 8640. Everyone says I can tow my camper with this Suburban. It is loaded with all bells & whistles. Has tow package, manual transmission option, rear air bags. I just do not know. Recently lost my husband and he said when we traded we needed a 2500. Any input?

What does the sticker on the door post say for weight?
That's what you should go by.

First: Sorry for your loss.
Second: Welcome to the forum.
Third: If your camper has a dry weight of 8640 your suburban is not big enough. I checked the Trailer Life 2012 towing guide and a 4x2 has a max rating of 8100 lbs. with 3.42 gear and max cooling and tow package. A 4x4 with same set up has max tow rating of 8000 lbs. According to this empty your camper is to heavy. I also looked at the 2500 suburban and a 4x2 with 6.0 motor is 9600. A 4x4 is 9400.
Remember your camper is 8640 dry that means nothing in it and propane tanks empty. Food /kitchen stuff/ propane/ bedding/ clothes/ And anything else you pack could easily go over 1000 lbs. and you would be pushing even a 2500.
If you do decide to get a different tow vehicle the trailer life is a good source to check tow ratings just Google : Trailer Life Tow Ratings : then add the year vehicle your are looking at. Hope this helped but probably not what you wanted to hear.

Just for kicks I checked the Crossroads site for your camper specs.
Dry wt.: 8455lbs
Payload : 2707 lbs. (This is what you can pack)
GVWR: 11162 lbs. (This is the max weight the camper was designed for)
Hitch weight : 1002 (This is unloaded as you add things it will go up)
Hope this is helpful.

Thank you. That is what I thought and had been what my husband said. I do have a 85 Chev Duelly with 354 that will move it but it is a gas hog. We keep our camper at a campsite year round so the only time it has to be moved is in the event of a storm or for repairs.
