Hello All,

We can see water when we look in the drain of the shower of our '10 19RD. We have drained all the water out of the trailer, including the water heater, but the water stays in that drain - from what we see from removing the panel there is a u-shaped bend to the drain. Any ideas on how to remove that water?

Thanks!

Do you have an air compressor you can blow it out with? Can you pull the drain cover and push a rag or paper towels in the drain to get the water out?

Are you sure what you are seeing isn't the goose neck on the drain? I suppose some would call it the p-trap? If that's what it is----why don't you just pour some RV anti-freeze down there. That should take care of any freezing problems.

There should be liquid in the drain. It is the P trap like in your house (look under the sink in your house). If there was not this liquid barrier, the odor for the holding tankcouldcome back up the drain into your trailer.

My post was assuming you are trying to winterize it and remove all the water. If that is not the case then yes as the others have stated there should be water in the P trap.

Yes, as "Old Farmer" says, put RV antifreeze (pink stuff) in the P-trap, to keep the trap from freezing & then put about a tablespoon of any cooking oil in the drain to keep the liquid from evaporating as fast. This will help hold back any odors from your gray tank. Do this to your bath & kitchen sinks too.

I don't empty my p-traps in the winter, just dump a quart of pink stuff in it.

As you run the pink stuff through the water lines, you open everyfaucet until pink stuff comes out. This goes into the drain to also protect the traps.

If the P-trap is dry, as others have said, the smell from the grey tank will come thru. If you are as cheap as I am, you pour windshield washer fluid in the drains. It's half the price of the RV antifreeze and does an equally good job.
