Weight Distribution & Anti-sway Bars?

Hello fellow Zinger Owners!

I'm new here, and have my PDI later this morning (can ya tell I'm excited?).

My wife and I are buying a 2018 328SB. I'm pulling it with a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab 5.7 gas truck. This will be our first trailer/RV.

Question is, do I need the weight distribution and anti-sway bars? Initially a salesman said yes definitely, my salesman (same dealer) says I have enough truck and won't need them.

Thoughts?

Congrats on the new rig.
Personally, I wouldn't be without the weight distribution and anti-sway bars.
You're spending all that money on a new rig, why chinch on a safety factor like that?

The salesman said because I have a brake controller, that would do as much or better than the bars. Is that true?

NO!
The brake control helps stop the trailer truck combo. Has nothing to do with stopping sway. Plus, I believe the brake controller is mandatory.
Like most salesman, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Ok. Thanks.
Another question, we had the dealer pull it to our house to ensure it will fit in our back driveway. On the way over it began storming/hailing. The front cap took a ton of hits from the hail. The dealer told us the only effect of the hail is the looks and the decals wouldn't be covered under warranty. Is that true? Do we have anything else to worry about with that?

Warranty for decals works if they peel and crack within the warranty period.
Sounds like his insurance should cover them as he was towing and they still owned it. As for weight dist , I have a 2500 and use it as i have 1150# tongue weight . Your front storage will fill up with stuff,2 batteries on front,2 full propane tanks, maybe an above propane tank bike rack ,storage under bed and stuff on bed and stuff in your truck box....it all adds up. The salesman probably never towed anything bigger than a utility trailer.

Scary huh? You would think being in sales they would know some of the basic safety components.

For the amount of money WD cost, it will make your ride and towing less stressful. That is worth the cost IMO. I view WD for towing similar to motorcycle safety gear. If you can't afford a helmet, jacket and gloves with the new bike, then you really can't afford the bike.

Agree, and two different stories at the same dealership

re the hail damage... if you hadn't taken possession, it's still theirs...
very similar to if they had had a wreck on the way over...

BUT, good luck getting them to pay for it...

hope you took pics of the delivery person and truck...

document everything !

Just my two cents here..

So this is now at least two instances where the dealer has given you bad info (1# No WDH needed and #2 Decals not under warranty).

Have you taken possesion yet?
