I see there is a few topics about slide issues but don't think they are the same as mine. It appears my rear slide has gone out of square, the dealership has tried to adjust mouldings but it still hasn't fixed the problem and pretty much made a mess of it. I noticed on the rear slide back of trailer side, the top of the slide the rubber seal was really rubbing on the track and at the bottom slide same side there was a 1/4" gap between the slide and rubber seal. Same problem other side but opposite top to bottom. I said it wasn't like this the previous season, as I pay close attention to slides. Dealership said its impossible must have been like that from new. It went back 3 times in 2 weeks because they messed up the slide seal trying to compensate the slide being out of whack.
Now my big slide when closed bows out to the point on a good rain it leaks in the middle, my black tank flush has leaked all inside the floor insulation and my outside kitchen has been fixed 3 times for leaks and still leaking.
I expect bugs with travel trailers but this is getting out of hand.
Has anyone had a similar issue with rear slide?
Thanks

I decided to get crossroads involved in this as alot of the issues is dealer caused. They have have given me an offer of Picking up my trailer and taking it to the factory to be stored and fixed over the winter. The condition is I have to pick up and inspect. The factory is aprox 10 hrs away from me. So with gas and a night over. It will cost me aprox. $500 to have the factory fix it.

Looks like crossroads is going to help with my gas too. I am glad I contacted them. I feel much better about the situation, and glad they were quick to respond.

That's pretty good news for you. I bet a lot of other ones would like to get the same.
What does -- pick up and inspect-- mean for you?

Good to have CrossRoads fix it - at the factory - greater probability of it getting fixed properly. To bad that your camping season will be ended so soon. If they help with the fuel that will be a plus.

With all of our issues I contact CrossRoads first and then the RV dealer. That way I have a good repair plan up front and history of the issues for future reference. I send the CrossRoads Rep. pictures of the issues and as much detail as I can.
The CrossRoads Reps. have been very helpful.

As a side note I had a 1994 Bounder that had a design flaw and I had the passenger side fiberglass on the motor home replaced - drove it to the factory and picked it up (all under warranty). They helped with the gas bill too. Never had a problem with the fibergalss after that and owned it for another 8 years.

It means IMO to approve the work that is done to my satisfaction.

I also contacted the company and made it clear I wanted to know what they are going to do to make it right. They agreed to cover 3 months of payments. I also have to pick it up I quoted them a cost of $500 round trip which they agreed to pay. Picking it up this weekend they assure that all is fixed and I will Beverly satisfied.

Thats good to hear. I have no need to go after payments because I never really had down time I just made it work to last the season. But I am glad they are covering my costs to go pick it up. I am getting a little scared on reading the new slide system problems are these things going to last?

Got the repair plan from the crossroads rep today - looks like it will work.

I can send an e-mail (with pictures from the factory floor on the mod details) to those that want the info.

Thought I would give an update. Picked up the trailer Monday. Arrived At crossroads Monday morning 7:30 am hoping to be gone by 8am (8-9hr drive home) But the trailer wasnt prepped for early morning pick up as it was supposed to be. I would like to say my experince having the factory repair it was great but it wasn't. I am almost glad it wasnt prepped I guess Indiana had some pretty heavy rains prior. Sure enough carpet was wet. So they offered to replace carpet in slide, still not 100% surewhere water was leaking and did some caulking. There explanation was the way it was sitting, along with abnormal heavy rainsand couldnt get it to leak again. Plus I found some small stuff missed. So around 11am I finally get on the road. Totally off topic man do I love my roads in Ontario compared to going through michigan lol.
I got home late Monday, so tuesday I opened up trailer and discovered large slide was having a hard time going out making a racket. Never thought to check this at the factory as it was never an issues. Discovered that metal trim under slide was grabbing it as it was being put out, made a bit of a mess. Talked to the factory and I guess when they replaced carpet the trim might have got bent up. They are sending me a kit to repair.
To sum things up am I happy with everything? Not really. Still not over confident this trailer will be trouble free. Even some of the work the factory did could be less desired. Some of the trim work and caulking which I didn't see upon first inspection once I signed off. I guess we will see how things go since warranty is up at the end of this month.

Haven't been on here in a while. Really because I have nothing good to say and I have pretty much given up on the whole rv thing. We bought a property last year and will build a cottage. We were hoping to use our sunset trail as a temp cottage while we build. But it's been at the dealership for 7 mths. I sure wish we had lemon laws in ontario. This trailer has been a PC of junk. It's been back to the factory, it's been at the dealer I don't know how many times but still no resolve. The out door kitchen still leaks, the big slide still leaks, the roof is separating, front cap is cracked and a bunch of other stuff. The manufacturer and dealership both play equal roles in this experience. I hope they improve these trailers for future owners.

If you haven't already seen my posting, our 2010 Sunset Trail ST27FB has delamination issues resulting in water damage to the floor. The extended warranty company (7-yr coverage) went bankrupt, so we now have NO COVERAGE! We too have given up on RVing. We're too afraid to invest in another RV and have problems again. We won't be able to sell it, even with the repairs, for what we owe on it. Very disappointing.

Really sorry to hear of the problems you guys are having. It's pitiful that you invested that kind of money only to be left holding the bag for something you can't enjoy. What's even worse is that the poor workmanship that went into your trailers has caused you to give up on camping altogether. There are campers out there that, while not perfect, aren't that bad. I hope you guys will give RVing another chance as it really is fun. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't buy another Sunset Trail, though. It seems like they are having more than their fair share of serious problems with roofs, caps, and slides. Some quality issues are fairly normal in travel trailers, but what you guys are experiencing is neither normal nor acceptable.

This is my second attempt to respond. Somehow, when I submitted it, it didn't work. So, I apologize if you get two responses.

We bought our travel trailer after retirement. We cannot afford to take a chance and trade it in for higher payments and possibly get another one with more issues. Close friends of ours purchased a $600,000 Country Coach that leaked, despite 4 attempts to get it fixed. They traded it in on a Bounder, at a tremendous loss. A year later they sold the Bounder at another loss. They didn't like the Bounder, but that was all the dealer would offer them for the Country Coach. They accepted it because they felt it would be easier to sell the Bounder than the Country Coach.

If you have a good RV, KEEP IT, trading it in for a newer RV may bring you problems even though it is new.

Enjoy your RV - and Happy Trails to you.

I didn't think the extended warranty covered structural at least not here in canada? I will still fight to get it fixed although its getting tiring. I picked it up for now so I can some what use it for the season. Cap is on order, roof and slide issues being dealt with. Gave me a bit of pc of mind as it doesn't appear the outdoor kitchen leaked while they had it. So my quick caulking job worked so I might take the time to do it right. We will see what happens. We don't have lemon laws in Ontario but there is an arbitration process I might pursue. Mine is a 2012 dealership made comment at least you have rubber roof they tried vinyl after and now back to rubber.
going back to comment I made before my whole decision on buying this trailer was based on the good feedback in this forum. But that was 2011 and older. Once 2012 and newer came around a different story.

Hopefully you'll get some resolution in your case. We received no help or encouragement from Wana RV, and we were told that the RV roof is supposed to be checked for leakage 2 - 3 times a year, indicating we were at fault. It wasn't the roof that leaked, it was delamination in the front of the trailer. Oh we'll. Wishing you the best of luck.
