2015 Sunset Slide Mechanism

Morning everyone,

I'm days away from taking possession of my new 2015 ST28BH. I was looking at some dealer listings of the same trailer, and it appears that the 2015's no longer use the Schwintek system. Any idea why the change? Does anyone know what Crossroads is using now (looks like a cable slide system, but not sure who manufactures the components)?

Thanks,
Adam...

We have a Crossroads Cruiser and we have three slides. The kitchen and dinette/couch slides are not Schwintek from what we can see, but the bedroom one is. The bedroom slide is a pain in the butt. When you are moving the slide in or out, you should not stop it part way or you have to put it back where it was and start over. It has two motors and if they get out of sync, it is a real problem.

This happened to us at a campground once and we had to call Crossroads so they could talk us through the fix.

The regular slides, however they work, are a lot easier to deal with as far as we are concerned.

If it is cable it is manufactured by BAL I think Open Range has been using them for a long time.

Pretty sure it's just the Lippert rack and pinion. They are still using both.
Here is a 2015 with Schwintek.

Lloyd they are the same folks who make the Xchocks, a division of Norco Industries

Our 2014 ST270BH has the cable system. Seems to work fine, pretty smooth. Like Loneoak indicated, we can start & stop the slide with no problems. Tech at our dealership said they are easier to work on too. I was curious how they worked and found this site:

http://www.norcoind.com/bal/products...de/index.shtml

There's a neat 3D CAD type drawing put in motion showing how the cable systems works.

No, it's not a rack and pinion mechanism. It's the Norco cable system. I was told CrossRoads was moving away from the Schwintek system due to performance issues. I have it on all 3 slides of my 32RL.

Good to know, thanks for the info. Has anyone heard this directly from Crossroads yet?

I pick up the new unit tomorrow. I'll be curious to see what it comes with.

I had the Schwintek on my previous ST, and never had a problem with it. Although I was always concerned about the day that it would fail and I'd have to manually push in the super slide on the old unit...

From what I can see, the cable mechanism looks like the manual override seems a bit easier; just need to make sure I have a drill with me.

Just confirmed with CR that anything being built now are 2015's and will have the cable system for the slides. They have stopped using the Schwintek systems because of issues they were having.
