2016 290QB tan front cap faded!

Yep! Another "faded front cap" post. Just inside of my one year warranty. Crossroads has agreed to fix it. My dealer says this is the first tan cap he's seen do that. He says he thought that Crossroads had changed the gel-cote process to remedy this problem. Apparently not. Anyways, she's in the shop now. The dealer says it will look even better than factory when I get it back. 20160531_155512288_iOS.jpg20160515_193136790_iOS.jpg
Picture doesn't show the fading that well. In person it is very noticeable.

If not painting it, get it in writing that when it fades again when you',re out of warranty that they will paint it then. If not painted it will fade again.

I'd op for the full cap automotive paint job. Good polymer coating every year and you will not see any fade.

Just curious, did you apply any waxes or protective coatings after you bought the trailer and if so, which ones?

I didn't. I know that's something I should do, just didn't realize it had to be done immediately. The dealer said that shouldn't have happened regardless of if I had applied any type of protectant.

Wow, how disappointing. My dealer said they fixed the fade problem. I just bought a 2016 with the same cap (Ignore my signature, had not had time to update yet). I am thinking of alternatives to the "wax and pray" approach. Anyone heard of applying 3M clear mask? My body shop said he'd do it but it wouldn't be cheap. The thought of hauling the trailer back to the dealer and not having it for an extended period of time might justify the cost. Talking around 500 bucks.

I'm guessing anything with some kind of UV protection is the best bet. She's gonna stay covered at all times from now on.

The only real fix is to have it painted, the rv industry is having fading problems with all the browns & tans.

All they need to do is polish out the oxidization, wet sand the cap with 600 grit then shoot it with an automotive clear. The clear has UV protection in it, you will retain the original color and it will shine way better than new!

Looks great!
I'm having the same problem with my Fox Mountain tan cap after five months and using a polymer religiously. What did your dealer do to fix yours?

They sent mine to a paint shop nearby, painted it and clear coated just like a automotive finish. Better than new!

Thanks. I'll have to pursue that avenue with my dealer. My other 5er, the Canyon Trail, is a year older and has a medium dark metallic painted cap. No problems with that one. Looks like painting is the way to go!

I noticed the top portion of the cap on my 2016 Sunset Trail Super Lite 250RB is fading. Saw it yesterday when I was blowing the water out of the lines for winter. I've got less than a month of warranty left.

This has come at a bad time since I have to go to work 130 miles away tomorrow for the fall.

Take pictures. Send detailed description and copies of pics to your dealer and Crossroads. Ask for a email receipt that the email was read. Call dealer and Crossroads and tell them the same. Document, document, document. Make sure pics are dated.

I would definitely take pictures and email them to your dealer. My warranty was close to running out as well. My dealer had me take pics before I even brought it there so if the warranty ran out before we could get the service scheduled at least it was documented that I had notified them.

Washed it just to make sure it it just made it look worse.

Called dealer, it's definitely not the first time they've had to deal with this. He said he'd file the claim right now, and to email him pics of it so he could back it up.
Said they'd get some decals ordered and have it painted.

Emailed dealer rep to find out progress on warranty claim. got call today that they'd like me to bring it tomorrow for paint. I told them I'm stuck in St. Louis and I'd bring it Saturday.

Pretty quick.
