Aluminum Rim Problem

So I have experienced my first warranty claim with my TT. During my second trip out last month, I did my pre-travel checklist and discovered one of my tires extremely low (30psi). I hooked up, went down the road about a mile or so and aired up (I keep the TT at an indoor storage facility with no power). All other tires good.

Upon leaving our campsite to head home, same issue. I aired up and got home without any problems. I had the wife call the dealer and they referred us to our Xtra-Ride warranty due to it being a tire problem. Local shop came out, removed the tire, placed the spare on and took the tire for repair.

Following day, shop advised that tire was good. What they found was a small pit in the rim (on the inside where it slides in over the drum). Dealer took rim and tire and ordered a replacement. This was last week so I hope to have it here by the end of the week. If not, Any concerns about traveling on the spare?

Should not pose a problem.

My concern would be then you'd be traveling without a spare.

No, thats what AAA is for anyway. I had them patch and repair a tire on my gooseneck last month. I spent an extra hour on the side of the HWY but it was worth it. I have no spare for the trailer.

I agree. I have never enjoyed sitting along side the highway waiting anything or anybody.

Better than risking changing it yourself or damaging the wheel or trailer by driving to the next exit.

Depends on what type of highway, and whether it's a left or right tire. Or how my back is feeling that day or my knees, or my hip, on second thought, I'll call for service.

That was the first thing I told the dealer. If the replacement was not here in time, they would be providing a spare. No problem according to them as they would go out on the lot and pull one off for us.

Depending on location, I would debate the "fix it myself" or call for road side assistance. My mood & time would probably dictate this as well!

Thanks for replies...Greatly appreciated!

Quick update....dealer left me a message stating my replacement rim & tire was in. Not bad for my first warranty claim. I had nightmares of waiting weeks on end with countless phone calls. I hope they keep up the good work!
