Crossroads said they were going to do something for me, but haven't heard a word from them in 2mos. The equipment isn't very reliable.

How can you tell if bearings are bad?

Remove the bearing and inspect. Gold in color. Pitting in the rollers or bad scratches or grooves. Then they are. Bad.
Should be bright silver in color with no marks on the rollers

Angry bearings

You can get valve stem sensors with a screen monitor that senses temp and air pressure, but are pricey. Otherwise no way to tell if a bearing gets to hot and falls apart. When you see smoke its to late

When I travel and stop for what ever I put my hand on the hub and feel if the hubs are all about the same temp. Warm but not hot.
Its. Just the way I check

I purchased TPM for my trailer and the best investment I ever bought. We were in the middle of a 5000 mile trip. I checked the air in the tires the night before we were leaving and air pressure was good. pulled out in the morning and went about 10 miles and the monitor alarm went off. Pulled over and found the nut holding the air valve had backed off causing it to start leaking. Saved a blowout. It happened again on the trip with a different tire. I am running GY G614's at 110psi. The monitor payed for itself on this trip

Bearing Problem and many more

I'll be getting rid of mine this spring, to unreliable and have never heard anything back from crossroads when they said they would hep me out. Looking at Blackstone trailers, a little more pricey but better quality and better built. Glad you are having good luck with yours.

Yes it monitors air pressure and tire temperature. I use a hand held heat gun to check bearing temp. Saves brake dust on your hands from feeling the bearing. If a bearing let's go and heats up it will transfer the heat to the tire and the TPMS should pick it up

From what I see most have issues with quality and customer service. I used to be a big fan of CR but am looking to get rid of it because they have shoddy customer service. Looking at other brands now, but who knows. Have heard good things about Jayco though I passed on them for the CR. Have not even gotten a response from Christian on my last message to her. I think I would have preferred no response from CR instead of the one they sent.

I haven't heard back form Christian either. The blackstone is made by Outdoor rv, haven't looked at reviews, but are better made than crossroads.

Wink Moving on to other "SOB"

Both Outdoorsrvmfg and Northwoods Mfg are brands from out west and seam to have very good reviews. I'm currently looking to trade our 2011 CR 31RK for a Arctic Fox 27-5L in Feb. Our first 2004 CR 28RK was the best and wish we could find one built as nice as that one was, to bad both use the swintech band slide systems. We have had some problems with are rig but from what I have seen and heard thats seems to the norm on most brands.

Bearing Problem and many more

We are talking about this because of bearing problems and other problems with crossroads trailers, if there weren't as many problems with my trailer I wouldn't be talking about getting a different one. The quality of the trailer sucks and so does there customer service when they don't get back to you. I'm glad your not having the problems I am. I've got a lemon and they don't care. Sorry we got off on another subject, but i started this thread. I paid good money for this trailer, and its pretty sad you can't go on a road trip wondering whats going to go wrong next.

We know you started this thread, and we know you are having problems with your rig.
Even though we can all symbolize with you and anyone else that is experiencing problems like you are, those things can't be fixed here on the forum.

Now as far as the off topic reminder post Mark put up--it wasn't directed at you.
There are a few other posts on this thread he was referring to.

With that being said, we don't want this thread turned into a rant either.

Like I said in my post: If you want to start a thread about your topic, feel free to do so.
But like Lloyd said, continued rants are not allowed.

Please review the 'Community Rules" link at the bottom of the page.
