I am looking at "upgrading" the 4 matresses on the bunk beds. Has anyone found an economical (meaning, cheap) alternative to the stock ones?

I would also like to replace the matresses in my camper because at least one of them is coming apart. It looks almost like dry rot. The fibers of the cover are falling apart. I am going to call Crossroads and see what they say. I will be visiting my local RV store to check on other options. I have the same camper as you and the same year.

The bunk mattresses in my unit were pretty thin. The kids were complaining so the wife went to our local Canadian Tire store and bought 2 pieces of 2" foam for under $50.00. I cut them to size with an electric bread knife (much easier than a box cutter). We just put regular twin bed sheets on (they fit a little big)and now they are quite happy. You could probably find the foam at any Yarn Barn or upholsetry shop, both may cut to fit your application. Ifyou knowa seamstress or someone who likes sewing, sheets or covers are easy and cheap to make.

We just purchased a memory foam topper for are bed and the bunks. Worked well not cheap but after paying for are camper what is another 100.00 dollars for a good night sleep.

I also got memory foam. I used overstock.com Here is a link for their 2" mattress toppers, with 4 pound density. (just right in my opinion)

http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden...95/subcat.html

I always get the king size, since it is the same price. I then cut it down to size. 1 king topper can cover 2-3 of the rear bunk beds this way.

We went to Walmart ,thay have both memory foam and the eggcrate type for all sizes could get a full or queen and cut it in half to make two bunks.

the OriginalMattressFactory (I don't know if they are local to Ohio or what) will custom make

mattresses out of foam, or if close enough to a coil, will cut the springs and make a spring mattress.

we just had that done and the results were superb.
