Hello,</span>

I have a 2012 Crossroads Sunset Trail Reserve trailer, model ST28FL.</span>Recently, Ihad the tongue jack replaced and I'm not sure it was installed properly. For some reason, there is a wire from thenew tongue jackconnected directly to the negative terminal on thebattery. The original jack did not have this separate wire connected to the battery. This means that the new tongue jack has to have a battery to connect to in order to function, which worries me.I can't recall specifically, but I seem to remember that the original tongue jack would operate without the trailer battery being hooked up to the trailer.</span>Meaning, without the battery or shore power, the tongue jack would still function if the electrical connection to my tow vehicle were plugged in.</span>

Can anyone confirm?</span>Thank you.</span>

I've used the Ultra Fab jack on three different trailers. There has always been a wire required to power the jack and was connected to the positive terminal. Early in my education I tried operating the jack with only its wire connected to the positiveterminal of the battery. Wouldn't work. Discovered I had to connect both the positive and negative battery terminalsto the trailer wiring for proper operation. I'd try moving your jack wire to the positive terminal with the battery connected and see if that'll work. I also have an in-line fuse on the wire from the jack. Maybe check that too. Hope this helps.
