City water connection on rig

Hi,
As you can see in the attached photo, the city water connection is pulling away from the side of my trailer. It's a brand new trailer, so I will be taking it in for warranty repair when I can.

But in the meantime, I'm wondering what I can do to fix it up.

It feels as if the screws that are holding it on the wall, don't really have any bite to them. In fact, one of the screws isn't even screwed into the wall, it's just goes into the hole, missing the rigs wall all together.

When it rains, I'm sure water is getting into this space. What can I put there to patch it up, regular caulking?

On a related note, if I make a repair myself and it doesn't solve the problem, would crossroads/dealer deny service because I tried to repair it first?

You could take the screws out so you could see whats going on behind that flange. There must not be anything solid where the screws are going through or it wouldn't be pulling away like that.
If you don't want to do that, then I suggest you at least fill that gap with a good bead of caulk, but it probably won't stay there very long if that flange is loose.
I wouldn't think that it bother anything as far as your warranty.

They do sell a ribbon of sealant that would be easier to remove when it gets fixed. The ribbon caulk is what they use on the fixture anyway. Jut follow what Lloyd said, but use the ribbon caulk.

Lloyd, I never heard of it referred to as dumbo...and I could not find it online. Is that a brand name?? or just another name for the ribbon caulk?

I think y'all are referring to butyl caulk, like that used around roof vents before they are set into place.

If you fix it yourself, which is probably the best way to get a permanent repair, I would make a back plate for inside out of 1/8" thick aluminum plate. I would use the outside flange as a pattern for the center hole and screw locations. That would allow you to use machine screws with washers and nuts hold everything in place instead of the wood screws. Put some caulk on it and mount it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm generally not that handy, but what your saying doesn't sound terribly difficult to do. I'm up for the challenge.
Simple question -- how would I cut out the center hole in the aluminum? Could I need to find a machine shop to machine the part for me?

You can find circular saws at Lowes and Home Depot that will cut metal. You can also probably find a step drill that will make a hole large enough.
