Where is it? I have a smoke detector right near the front bedroom but don't see a CO monitor (and it's not same unit).

Also when I tried the furnace for the first time the smoke detector went nuts and had to pull the battery.

it is usually low near the floor. my zinger as it near the front door attached to the side of a kitchen cabinet.

not surprised about the smoke detector. there is usually something in the furnace or ducts that might need to burn off a little bit. the smoke detector will set off almost every time you cook too.Edited by: anaro

Lp detector is usually mounted low near the floor. My CO detector is mounted on the wall in the bedroom a little above the dresser top.

Again, if the detector is floor level it is most likely the LP detector since propane is heavier than air. That is also why the LP tank compartment has no bottom. On a side note, on newer models, the LP detector is also wired into the LP regulator. My LP detector failed, so I thought I would simply disconnect it until I got home, but that kept the regulator from working, so I had no propane for the furnace or water heater. Plugged it back in and everything worked fine.
