I have read very little other than some like it and some say no. I don't know if it is a good idea to get a cover for the trailer. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

I think the general consensus on this forum is not to cover. I covered my last TT and the cover scratched the paint quite a bit. I don't cover my current rig.

Not in favor of covers.

Thanks, What about slide toppers? Since the trailer will not be in use until March I have plenty of time to research and get set up. I have seen the video and see its potential positive. Does anyone have one?

I am having a slide topper installed over my large living room slide. I am not seasonal and like to travel to alot of different campgrounds and I have to go up on the roof everytime I want to close the slide to sweep off pine needles, stick, leaves and such. I think this will save me alot of time and hassle every time I pack up, plus it will protect the slide roof and seals from damage and UV. Hopefully extending the slide life and costly repairs.

I don't cover. Friends do. Me...not a fan. I don't even cover the A/C.
Slide topper I am not sure. I am seasonal, and likely will NOT get one, but as Jason stated - probably good if you travel alot.

I'm thinking of slide toppers for the reasons stated PLUS it keeps the sun off the top of the slide. The inside top of the slides get hot in the summer from the sun.

update- just picked up my trailer from the dealer yesterday after the slide topper install. I love it. it looks great and the functionality is going to work great for keeping everything off the top. They also replaced my LED awning lights under warranty. I did not expect to have both jobs completed in under 2 weeks. Very happy with the dealer and Crossroads.

I have bought a cover, but have not used it yet. I feel like I should use it because I paid for it. I also got the slid toppers installed, and I am super happy with them.

Dminer04, I see that you also have a Tundra. What engine do you have and have you made any upgrades to the truck? We have a 5.7 but plan to trade for 6.4.
Also, we were told that the cover causes issues with the roof. And the roof has the longest warranty of anything on your trailer. You might want to check with Crossroads customer service for their thoughts to see if you would be under warranty if it causes problems.

We had slide toppers put on our last rig and it was the most annoying, sleep depriving, add on I ever purchased. Beside flapping in the wind, another issue when used on super slides is there is not enough slope to have rain and pine needles run off. Tried inflatable beach balls under the topper but that was just another step for set up.
I have never had an RV cover for the reasons posted above but as many here on the Sunset Trail have experienced, the front cap looks like crap and needs repainting anyways so maybe a cover would have been the lesser of two evils...who knows?

We have one on our single slide. I love it. Looks great, keeps the slide cooler by blocking the sun and protects it as well. Mine is tight and does not flap or hold water.
Have to question your installlation as that does not sound right at all.

Ya, ours started nice and tight too but soon stretched and the spring return action in the tube weakened considerably. Hopefully the newest slide covers are much improved from the past versions.

I bought a cover last year but didn't get a chance to put it on before the snow came. This year we discovered that snow during the winter, when melting and sliding down the front of the end cap caused the decals to start to peel at the top edge and CR would not cover that under the warranty. This year I was determined to use the cover. I imgaine some covers may cause damage, scratches, etc. but I think the type of cover we are using will be just fine, will see next spring. One thing to keep in mind if you do use one and your trailer has the downspouts at each of the four corners up at the end of the gutters is that you will want to cover them first so they don't tear into the cover. We eneded up using styrofoam balls (from the craft section in Walmart), just pushed them right on and they fit tight... again, will have to see how they hold up come next spring. Our main concern is the fading from the sun/UV rays, and snow/ice doing damage w/o a cover, I hope we made a good decision.

Utahgoldrup, we will be very interested in the outcome when Spring arrives. Please post the results of the cover usage.

personally , i keep my trailer in a barn for the winter , but do cover it in the summer if i will not be using it for a while . Use an adco tyvex cover and also styrofoam balls on the gutter extensions. never had problems with scuffing . Keeps sun from doing the dirty on the dk brown front cap.

I really like the idea of the styrofoam balls on the gutter spouts.
