It doesn"t take a 4 or 6 year old to break the cheap, under engineered door holder on our 30 re. A 64 year old is just as capable! Think they could use something more durable. Just some advice to all "Don't lean on the door when the holder is attached"!

LOL...OOPSIES.
Makes you long for the old style that the door just "pushed" into and locked. We always used a bungie cord, too.

We didn't own our TT for a month before I broke it. Apparently they don't like being forced up in the cold either. We took the longer one from the pack n play until we could get a replacement. You do not know how hard it was to find a replacement. It seemed to be that everyone had a different style.

This is probably the weakest part of the whole unit. Unfortunately the weak part is on the most frequently used part. Well, at least it isn't on the fridge.
Our unit is brand new and has only been used a couple times. I'm very careful with the door holder because I've read about other's problems. Ours will be broken in the next trip or two. No matter how careful you are, it only takes a good strong wind gust to break it.
Ours has the 90 degree doorholder to accomodate the awning strut that is right next to the door. The door can't open past 90* when the awning is depoyed. The plate that is screwed into the door is the weak spot.
I'm extremely happy with my Crossroads product. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. This is a minor annoyance.

Trainsafe,
I agree, small things can be overlooked or worked around

I agree with you all. I new it would eventually get broken. But I just didn't expect me to be the "break-ee"...lol. I bought a small metal dowel, cut itthe same size as the stem, and used electrical tape to bind the two together. I think it's stronger now than it was before. Mightneed to renew the tape down the road, but for now, it works.
I too would buy another CR product, and am very happy with our 30RE

and crossroads happily replaced ours under warranty when we brought it in with a couple of other minor things to be fixed. They have been very good about fixing our "little" issues.

I have that same door holder on my 2013 ST22Bh. I can see why they use it but it was one of the first things I noticed (And did not like) on the unit.
I give it about 2 trips before the screws pull out.

My 5 year old decided to make we re-engineer my door holder. I also have... had the 90 degree stainless installed and it pulled the screws out of the door (due to a lack of backing). I ended buying a 45 degree stainless (fits perfect on the ST31BH with the anwing clearance) and punching through the door. I added a stainless steel back plate and dome screw for the upper screws. This obvisously beefs up the structural integrity of the door. I then had to move the backplate location since I switched from a 90 to a 45 degree angle. It didn't move much, but forced me to added another stainless piece backing to tie back to something solid on the camper. If anyone wants pics, let me know. korythomas@yahoo.com Happy Camping!

door holder catch was pulling out on my new sunset trail also. Requested dealer to fix on a visit for other warrenty work. They did a fine job by filling enlarged holes with some epoxy then putting some oversized rivots into the holder when attaching it back to door. This is a good fix and I am happy with Sirpellas rv in Canton Ohio that is a warrenty dealer.

We purchased from Sirpilla, and are reasonably satisfied...although they seem to have a high turnover in the service dept.
