Electric Awning

After Christmas we went camping for 10 awesome days. With 2 days left it became windy so I brought the awning in while we were out. When I went to put it back out it tripped the fuse. This is telling me there is a dead short in the system. Another interesting thing is the red LED light on the fuse panel does not light up letting me know it's blown. The dealer says I need to bring it in. Before I do, does anyone know how to get to the wiring? I rather repair it myself than waste time driving to the dealer.

I'm glad it blew in the IN position and not out. That would have been a pain in the rear.

What is the manufacturer of your awning? You could contact them for additional information, service manual and repair manual. Also, if it Dometic, they had a recall for some of their awning motors.

Good luck.

If you're not sure how to repair it don't. Fooling around with it could void the warranty.

I took apart the motor and found a wire shorted out. I spliced the wire and now it's working. I'm going to have the dealer repair it next month when I bring it in for some warranty work.
