Extending Slide and Crunching Sound on ST26RB

On a camping trip over the Memorial Day Weekend, I had and unfortunate thing happen when extending the slide on my ST26RB Sunset Trail Reserve TT. I was extending the slide that contains the kitchen and all was going well until I hear a very loud "crunch". I immediately stopped extending the slide and inspected what the possible cause of this awful crunching noise could be. Unfortunately what I discovered was one of the drawers just below the pantry door had extended during the 2.5 hour drive to the campsite.

Since the 2 drawers and the pantry door are behind the slide when it is fully retracted, I did not notice this from where the control panel is to extend the slide. I was able to push the drawer in far enough to close it so I could extend the slide - but the drawer was pretty banged up.

When we got home, I had the drawer repaired and re-installed it back in the trailer. Only this time, I installed child proof locks on the door and the two drawers. These locks prevent the drawers from fully opening during transit and keep them closed enough to clear the slide during extension.

I have enclosed some pictures that hopefully describe the position of the slide and the drawers. I took these after I installed the child proof locks.

If you have a ST26RB - please make sure you extend the slide with the couch and dinette first, and then inspect the slide with the kitchen before proceeding. Installing these locks will help prevent these drawers pulling out during transit to your campsite.

Glad you were able to fix it and come up with a good solution to the problem.

Our daughter's trailer, a 270BH, had a similar issue last year. The drawer got fixed, and now she extends her other slide first so she can check the drawer before extending the kitchen slide.

Last year when we had the blow out, it nocked the TV loose, I was out setting up, and Janet doing her thin inside. She came running out saying that the slide was making a chrunching noise and stopped. Went in and checked. Found that the flat screen tv had been caught and folded in half. They do folded
