Does anyone out theretow witha Dodge Ram pickup with the factory installed trailer brake controller (they call it an "integrated brake controller". When I plug trailer 7-way electrical connector to my truck, shouldn't the trailer icon on brake controller light up, indicating trailer is connected to vehicle ok?? What I get is the digital number value of what controller is set for on only, then numbers change when I apply truck brakes, but never see a value higher than 3 volts. When I manually apply trailer brakes via the brake controller (with no truck brakes applied) trailer does stop good & I do see the max 10 volt value both on brake controller & on dash info centre. Stopped at truck dealership today, and mechanic there said he's only worked on one other brake controller issue, and all he did was hook scope to truck to check if any codes came back. Sure enough everything came back 100% ok, as I suspected it would. I have checked 2 fuses in front engine compartment panel, but they're testing good. Don't know what else to try. Going to Myrtle beach in July, and will be driving thru the ountains, really don't want to have to lean down to manually apply brakes each time. Really curious to find out if any of you have a sililar truck and if you get the "yellow trailer icon" on brake controller light up......as well as when you apply truck brakes, if display showing voltage ouput shows up on both brake controller & dash info centre.

Thank for taking the time to read this!

I have the factory brake controller and it works just like yours. The
yellow icon only lights up if the breakaway cord engages or 7pin is
disconnected. I don't find it to work all that well either. Next time
I'll save the $375 option and buy a tekonsha and live with a few screw
holes in the dash.

I had a 2011 and now a 2012 Ram 1500. Both had brake controls and I've towed with both. Sounds like normal operation to me. The trailer lights only come on if the trailer power cable disconnects while the truck is still running. The brake has never caused me any problems and always stops the trailer very well.

mine works fine, I adjusted the settings as you would do with an aftermarket controller, never had a problem.
