We used our 32FR for the first time this last weekend, and ran across something I am not sure of. Why must you either run the water heater or teh fireplace, but cannot run both at the same time. Do they draw to much power to run together? The toggle switch on the control panel will only allow one to be operated at a time. So if you want the fireplace on you cant have hot water. Wondering if this is why they must not run at the same time. Thanks for any help I can get.

Yes too much draw for them both to be running....but, we can run the a/c and the wh at the same time so why not have the a/c and fireplace on the same circuit? I'm sure there is a simple answer, I just haven't figured it out. BTW, with the switch to fireplace your wh will run on propane.

Thanks for the info. Going from a smaller basic trailer to one with more options is a learning process. Most of which I am learning as we use it.

Run your water heater off the LP if you need simultaneous use of the FP. The toggle switch is there because you're on a 30 amp system.

Ridgerunner is correct, to much power to run both off elec. on a 30 amp system. The 50 amp system can run both elec. at the same time. 30 amp just can't do it.

Just switch the water heater to gas for a short time.

If you have room in the breaker box to add more breakers, you could put each on it's own breaker and then be able to run both at the same time. It would probably mean running separate wiring to the two so as to eliminate the toggle switch.

I have a 50 amp and am wondering the same thing. I still have to switch the WH to LP to run both simultaneously.

Another question, when the switch is toward the fireplace, will the WH run off LP automatically, or do you have to select the LP water heater and have it illuminated?

Rattlesnake:

What unit do you have? We have used the fireplace with the water heater on electric and haven't had any problems. The water heater will not automatically switch from electric to propane. You have to do it manually.
