After more than a year of dreaming and at least 6 months of research, the hubby and I finally pulled the trigger and ordered our Sunset Trail Reserve ST28BH. Should be arriving in about a month and we could not be more excited!

This will be our first travel trailer - we're upgrading from a pop-up. So it's our first real experience with being able to pull it up to the curb and actually pack things into it before we go, including food. We'll make sure to get the fridge turned on and cooled down before we hit the road (24 hrs. is all we get in our neighborhood..so that'll have to do). I was just wondering if I should purchase a small fan for the inside of the fridge. I have heard that this will greatly improve the way it cools off and maintains a cold temperature. However, with this being a brand new TT, I wasn't sure if this would be necessary. Of is that really only for older TT refrigerator models?

Just trying to make a list of things we might need. And lets face it - no one wants lukewarm beer!!

Thanks!

We have never used one or felt the need for one. As long as you don't put items in the fridge right against the cooling fins it should work fine. I have put beer in ours before and they were nice and cold but most of the time I keep them in an ice chest so they don't take up room in the fridge. We have an ice maker in the pass thru storage area so I rarely have to buy ice for the cooler or drinks. Enjoy the new unit.

I have heard that the fans help too. I never bought one and haven't felt the need to buy one yet.

I always turn the fridge on a day before loading it to allow ample time to cool. The fridge holds temps just fine all weekend long. In fact on the last outing we had to adjust the temp setting because it was too cool.

Contrats on your order for a new Sunset Trail. I'm sure you'll enjoy your RVing experience with it.

As far as the fan I never had a need for one.

I bought one years ago. It runs on two D flashlight batteries. My wife fills the fridge---and this has helped even out the temps.

Thank you, everyone, for the responses. Sounds like I might be OK without one. This at least tells me I shouldn't buy one in advance, but wait and see how the fridge performs, then decide.

Our pop-up is only a couple years old and the fridge in there works awesome! We have to turn it down once it gets cooled off to keep stuff from freezing. So hopefully this one performs just as well.

Now if I could only find a way to remove the freezer section from the little outside kitchen fridge so we'd have more room for drinks in there...

Thanks again,
Amy
