Fridge Issue

We picked up our new 2015 sunset trail 240bh a few weeks ago and on our first trip the fridge stopped working. After doing some troubleshooting I found that the circuit board had shorted out against the back wall of the compartment. There appeared to be nothing behind the circuit board to stop it from touching the metal wall.

Has anybody else had this problem? Not a very good start with my new trailer!!

Never seen a circuit board without a plastic cover. I've had 5 different rv's and all had covers. Seems odd.

I agree with Stan. There must be a cover missing on that thing.

There was a plastic covering the front of the board but nothing to protect the circuit board from touching the back metal wall.

That is odd, I've never seen that either.

Most circuit boards I've seen have something to secure them to a surface so they can't move around, and they are isolated.

Sorry to hear this. Very unusual... the only thing that comes to mind is that it was a screw-up during the manufacture process. Supposition on my part, but perhaps there was a lack of supervision/quality control when it was put together. Hope you can get it taken care of under warranty and that there are no further problems.

If it does have plastic on one side, could it have been installed backwards?

I just went out and checked mine. It is a Norcold that I installed about 4 months ago. It has a plastic cover and if you remove two additional screws it also has a plastic base that the circuit board screws to. Basically it is surrounded by a plastic box.

Thanks everybody for your help. I'm starting to think that my board is missing . I definitely don't have the protective base that Stan referred to.
I can see these forums being quite helpful in the future!!
