gas/electric water heater

Hello,

With the gas/electric water heater combo can you:

1. Use both gas and electric heating elements at the same time?
2. Can you leave them on all the time so that hot water is always available?

(I did do a lazy search of this and nothing came out and slapped me in the face, so I'm posting.)

Yes, you can run both at the same time it heats up very quickly this way and recovers faster too. I only run both at the same time during showers and hot never runs out for us. Yes, you can leave them on all the time, except when towing. If at a place with full hookups I would just use the electric side and save your gas though. You could trip your breakers if running the electric and a/c the same time if you run the microwave too.

I usually leave my electric on all the time and turn gas on for showers. Some feel safer turning both off when they leave their rv for extended periods of time during the day.

I usually turn both off when away from the TT. I turn electric on when we are there and both on when we shower. If I were to leave on then it would be the electric. I just filled my propane tanks and only used 1&1/2 tank all last year. Several nights where I had to run heater, but mostly just use the gas for grill, stove, and hot water.
