If it's like most the 2 duplex outlets are each 1/2 of the output, no need to split the 4 holer. Look at the 2 circuit breakers, probably 20a each. One per outlet.

I'm buying one of the 4-prong/two leg adaptor cords to split the 240 across the two legs for two 120/20A connections. Also getting a 3 receptacle extension to run off one leg for extra plugs. Sounds safer and less stress on the genny.
use for storm power outages .
I had pretty much the same size, It will run everything else ok, and it is good for charging the battery in the trailer, it just doesn't have enough to start the AC.

This is what's listed as the description of my generator outlets - "the control panel has 2-120V 5-20R duplex outlet, 1-120/240V L14-30R outlet and 1-12V battery charging outlet". So I'm assuming that "duplex" means the split of power across the 120V outlets.

Would that also means that power is split across separate (what I've heard referred to as...) "windings"?

Duplex refers to two outlets on a single mounting strap! If you have 2-120v duplex outlets, you would be able to plug in four cords there. If that is what you have, one might assume they are on opposite windings. You can check with a voltmeter from the hot side of one to hot of the other. Should read 240 volts if they are. You can check a duplex in the same manner. Hot side is the one to the right with the ground at bottom.

I'll have to try the voltmeter test. It has 2 buttons that look the same on the front but only one says "circuit breaker" (see pic).

Perhaps I should explain also that a zero volt reading using my previous post test would indicate the same winding (phase).

Ditto

You also have to keep "Quiet Times" in mind - or whether you can even run a genny. My 3100 does a great job - but I do not run it very long. The single complaint is the small fuel tank.

Are you running that from the 4 prong outlet? If so, what adapter are you using?
