Thinking about replacing the factory Hide-A-Bed Sofa with two recliners. Not sure how I would get the sofa out the door as I measured it today (64"W X 35"H X 35"D) and the door width is 27 3/4". Don't know if the sofa comes apart as the back is covered with stapled fabric. Has anyone done this? Suggestions are appreciated!
Did it have a rather flimsy fabric covering the entire back from top to bottom? This is what mine has and I don't know what's behind it without taking all the staples out. Itwon't just lift off as I've read in yours and other posts. Momentarily puzzled. So, it's 5:22 P.M. and I'm going to go make me my first martini. Maybe it'll come to me in a little while?Edited by: coastn
Ours has the flimsy material on the back. but lift it up where the back rests on the arms and it should slide right up. or with a little tug. then right out the door. this will be the last 5er that I purchase with the living room furniture. would be much easier to get what you want and put it in.
Finally made it over to the storage area to try what you described. My sofa appears to be different from yours as the back rests straight down between and not on the arms. Found that the left side of the back did lift up easily but the right side wouldn't budge. I'll tackle this further when I can run the slide out and have room tomove the sofa around for a better look and better leverage.
