How to reach / clean the top of the slides?
We have a new trailer, Sunset Trail Grand Reserve SS26SI, on order, it's our first with slide outs. I assume you need to check for and remove any debris from on top of the slide(s) before retracting them?
If so, how do you see what's on top? Not liking the idea of hauling a ladder. Suggestions? thx

2 ways I can think of. Use a selfie stick and take a picture, then you still have to get to the debris someway, or buy a telescopic ladder like this one,

We put a slide topper on our SST 250RB and are glad we did. The slide topper will help keep it cooler in the summer and keep the leafs and twigs off the roof of the slide in the fall. You may be able to work a deal on them with yout dealer and save some money.

I have a telescoping ladder like Mark suggested, but I've seen collapsible ladders that are designed as a regular "A" frame ladder. Pretty cool.

Never leave home without a ladder..... Trust me....you will need it at some point!!
Cleaning is not the only thing you may need it for.

I take the telescoping ladder as seen in the link above. Also a leaf blower or broom.

I got a 72" piece of extention ladder and made a bracket to hang it under the trailer ...simply pull it out if needed,

6 ft ladder and a broom. If I was going to keep this trailer I'd have a slide topper put on.

The slide toppers are great to keep things off the slide roof & are of some benefit from the heat, but if you are in or plan a lot of trips to windy areas they are a PITA flapping/popping constantly. I have them on mine, but there are times I wish I had a button to roll them in during the winds.
Your best option is a ladder, which is almost mandatory for a rv, & a long handle broom, cordless leaf blower or don't park under trees.

I keep one of the awning tie down kits that are really seat belt material that I throw over the slide awning if it is real windy and that secures it from flapping . Think I only used it twice .

Cost wise, it's a lot cheaper to buy the ladder for $50 vs a few hundred at least to pay for a slide topper. To me, It's not worth the money. Too many I've seen seem to flap a lot plus there's more holes in the side of the rv where water can leak. I guess it's all a personal preference.

+1 on the ladder and broom. Wallyworld sells a telescoping broom with a snap on dust pan that is handy for this as well as inside.
