LP tanks

I have a ST32RL 2015 with Sunset Package and I thought I was suppose to get 30# tanks, not 20#'s?……can't really find the entire info for the Sunset Package…….I also noticed the spare tire size put on the camper by crossroads and the spare tire I actually got is a sizeSMALLER than the Mfg. said it should be….Crossroads put the Spare from the factory when it was made in April….when I questioned the mgr. where I bought the camper he said he called Crossroads and they told him that that's what they put on all their campers……then why not put that size on the label?……any answers?…..thanks in advance….

Have your VIN in hand and call Crossroads directly. Dealers cannot be trusted.

On my 2014 and the 15 as well, the 30# tanks are an option. So unless agreed upon the 20# tanks are standard. Spare should be the same as the rest of tires for obvious reasons. I agree with John, can't always trust the dealer.

20's VS 30's:
I too had that question when I purchased our unit in 2013.The dealer explained and I now tend to agree that the 20 tank option is not all that bad. THere are less and less filling stations for LP, at least in our area. But you can exchange a 20lb tank in any of 10 place within 10 minutes of where we live. And for us, 2 20's will last a long time. In the end, I guess I would rather have the 2 20's.

Your dealer is a liar. You should have two 30lb. LP tanks, and a spare tire the same size as the tires at the ends of your axles. IMHO. Someone tell me I'm wrong....!

PS...many campgrounds can fill LP tanks.

:so cool:Thank you sleepy T……this is our first EVER camper and we thought we got a "deal" we could sleep with, but the spare tire thing makes actually NO scene. I wrote Crossroads today and told the NTSB my require the size to match the label?…..thank you again!

Evedently you have never run out of LP in the middle of a cold night, but that is NOT the biggest downfall. All LP tanks have an experation date. It is 12 years. After that date the tank needs to be recertified, which you pay to have done. So the tanks that came with the 2013 camper you bought, let say for arguement sake, were made in 2013. That means your tanks are good to 2025. That date is stamped on the tank. A filling station is NOT allowed to fill your LP tank if it has expired. Those SWAP OUT store that you are talking about, that is where people that have expired tanks GET RID OF THEM. Next time you are at one of the stores check the dates on those tanks... Just sayen

Same with my 2013. I had the dealer upgrade my tanks to 30# as part of the sales agreement, then he ordered the 30# cover to fit.

sleeyT,
Yes I have run out of LP in the middle of the night, had to get up and switch to the full tank sitting right next to it. Running out of LP has nothing to do with the size of the tank, but lack of checking your tank levels!
In Minnesota all tanks have to be re-checked for expiration dates and proper valves everytime they are refilled, be it with a filling station or exchange service. The odds of getting an expired tank, at least around here are very slim. Its a lot easier to exchange the tank when traveling than spend time driving around looking for one of the few places that will fill your existing tank. What was once easy and common is no longer.

You should have got the 30# tanks with the Sunset Package option. With that option you should get the grill and rear mount and some other upgrades. Make sure they ordered it correctly.

I don't know what a Sunset package is.. All I see is Reserve and Superlite and both only offer the 30# tanks as an upgrade. They both come with 20# tanks standard

I have the 20lb tanks on my ST32RL as well. It was a choice caused by my previous tow vehicle being an F150 and I was saving tongue weight on and extreme level.
A couple of comments on previous posts.
1) My tanks have a valve that you point to the desired tank and when that tank goes dry, a red indicator shows and the valve automatically switches to the other tank so you don't "run dry" when your on furnace in the middle of the night. You just have to check if the indicator is red occasionally so you know when you're down to one tank.
2) The tank exchange locations are governed by the same laws as a refill location and can't fill a tank that is out of date which precludes you getting an out of date tank.

My LP tanks are the same set up.

If you look inside one of your kitchen cupboard doors there will be the build sheet for your TT. Mine had a higher model stereo listed than what was actually installed. By the way a call to Crossroads and the correct one was sent to me.

You can fill propane at many truckstops (Pilot, Flying J Loves) and most camjpgrounds.
It is a money maker for the campground. Many feed and grain outlets also sell propane.

Here's a website I used to do my research when I was looking for my TT. It shows all the standard equipment for most models.
It says the ST32RL gets 2 20# tanks.

I have the same issue. Who did you speak to and do you have their extension. I have tried twice and told no.

OK...Evidently I was wrong and your camper does come standard with 20 pounders. In my original post I did say: "Someone tell me I'm wrong" In your part of the country it seems it is hard to find refilling stations. That is NOT true for South East Pennsylvania where I live. Plenty of places to refill LP tanks here. Many of the campgrounds here can fill, also most businesses that deliver LP for home heating will fill your tanks, also at a cheaper price than the chain stores that just switch out tanks... That is how I keep the GRILL going all summer with the two 20#ers I use with it.

Automatic LP switch over regulators are great, if only I would remember to open the valve for the one NOT in use... Still would rather have the 30#ers.. The bottom line is you have to do what works for you...
