Can anyone tell me if the slide on the sunset trail ultra lite has a large rubber seal along the top of the slide. We are having water issues and our neighbor has had 2 rvs by 2 companies and they both have a large rubber piece along top to stop water from coming in the trailer...wondering if my new trailer is missing this piece, and this is causing water issues in walls and ceiling.

I had water on the top of my slide when it was in after a couple rain storms. I opened the slide and got up on the roof and cleaned the top of the slide real good, closed it and no more leaks. It only takes one little piece of debris under that seal to let in water.

I could hear the leaves crunching in mine last I used it. I had to run it in and out several times and get on a ladder to clean all the leaves and little stems out from under the seal. I think a lightweight ladder to take with me is in my future.

There should definitely be a seal there. From reading your other posts, it looks as if you likely have water damage. In order to properly repair it, I agree with others that you should demand Crossroads take your unit back to the factory to repair it and also provide you with a photo documentary of the repairs. This will require taking out the furniture and replacing wall boards, ceiling, and insulation. The last thing you want is a mold problem. Really, with a brand new unit that you've never even been able to use, the right thing for them to do is replace it with another new one or refund your money, but they aren't likely to do so. From what I've read, Crossroads has been good to pick up, repair, and deliver back for some of the other posters here. Honestly, quality control is a problem industry wide, it isn't just Crossroads. Good luck!

See if they can just put a whole new slide in ,...worth a shot ..while you are at it , make sure your tires are not bottoming out on the bottom of the trailer like mine were.

Tim,
I picked up one of the "Little Giant" ladders from QVC. When folded it fits sideways in the back of the PU Truck. When open all the way it allows you to reach the top of your roof. And, when fully extended as a stepladder, you can actually wash and wax the entire unit in a comfortable position, even for an old fart like me One of the best investments I've ever made.
Travel well,
Jim

Tim , I also added a ladder to my arsenal . get an old (or new) extension ladder and cut it to about 70"and make a bracket to attach to the frame below the trailer and in front of the axles.(frame is 70" wide) Slide the ladder into the 2 brackets and attach with a pin and clip , or bolt and nut. I is there if you need it,especially if our swintec slide srcews up and we need to get to the top of the slide to loosen the slide motors.
Can't get you picks till next spring as trailer is in barn.

After talking with Jim about ladders, we decided to also get a "Little Giant" ladder. We found one at Costco for an excellent price. I like all of the safety features of this ladder.
Hope things get better with your slider.

I like the idea of some kind of bracket under TT. Space in the back truck always seems to be at a premium. Not to mention weight.
