Slide out cable hanging down?
Is this supposed to be hanging down like this?
Not sure I remember it hanging down like this before, and couldn't see anything to hold it up. Trailer is a 270BH.
If that is normal it seems like it would be easy to snag on something. Anyone have a good way to keep it up under the slide?

There should be a flat plastic wire loom that holds the power wires. It is like a big hinge, attached at both ends to the chassis and slide out and a hinge in between. It is probably broken and may have fallen off.

This has been a pretty common problem with these crappy plastic supports. I fixed mine with a piece of fan belt (the wider the better). At the point it is broken, usually at the hinge, reconnect it with a short section of the belt and secure at both ends with nuts & bolts or screws. The belt will flex and serve as the hinge.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm having a hard time visualizing this. There is a long flat piece of plastic backing attached to two cables. The two cables (one is in a flexible conduit, the other not) run through one hole of a two hole bracket attached to the long flat piece of plastic. Where does this attach under the slide? Does it screw in?

Is the long flat plastic piece still attached to both the slide and the wall of the trailer? Assuming it is and the plastic is broken where it is supposed to "hinge", reconnect it with the belt at that point. Sorry I don't have a picture as my TT is in storage for the winter.

Thanks P4.
From the picture in my original post, it looks like the long flat piece is still attached on one end. I'll check it and reattach.

Once you climb under you will see the other piece of plastic attatched to the trailer. It broke in half. just drill about 3 holes in each half and attatch back together with zip ties. I reinforced with duct tape before drilling the holes for added strength.

Over the six years I owned the ST30BH the plastic strap broke in 3 different places. Each time I joined the 2 broken ends with gorilla tape which kept the cables from rubbing on the tires when the slide was in. Obviously not a permanent fix as others have done but it kept me going while on the road camping.

Hello. I have a 5W 270Bh since august 2013 and had the same problem. I use little hinge to fix it. Work fine till now.

Looking at your picture, I agree with Jason. I can see half of the plastic strap that the wiring is secured to. The other half should be up under the slide/camper.
One of mine broke and I pop riveted a piece of light weight belting over the break.

Like Thieryy, I got a couple of small galvanized hinges at Lowes and attached the 2 halves of the plastic piece to either side of the hinge. It should be a permanent fix for mine.

I had a 30SK that was built in 2007 and it had all those lines held up with 1 1/2 inch angle iron that was hinged in the middle...Now I own a 2013 camper and it has the plastic junk holding up those lines...

Tommy, they were just trying to make it lighter/cut down on the weight. They knew you were going to buy one and they knew what you had to pull it with.

Got up underneath and saw the break right where it attached to the trailer. Used the zip lock and gorilla tape method to repair, we'll see how long that lasts.
Questionable engineering for sure-it looks like the plastic was designed to flex and not hinge. While not hinging would protect the cables better, if the plastic is going to snap at the flex point anyway in 6 months, what's the point?
Here's a pic before wrapping up with gorilla tape.
