SunSet Trail Res St32FR Jacknife back room sofas

Hate these jacknife sofas. The backs are to soft to sleep on. They should have made the backs the same density as the seat portion. Any ideas on fixing this or changing out to a more comfortable sleeping bed?

mark5w Thanks for answering but this is not a easy type of setup. The Jackknife sofas are mounted on the slides. This will not take a regular sofa.
Anyone else have a replacement solution? Has anyone replaced the Jackknifes on this type of unit?

Funny you should say that, on our last trip our back part broke. They used plastic straps for binding paper boxes and they broke, so we replaced with a 1/4 inch plywood and fixed the squishiness. Wished it would of came that way, the frame is steal so we got some self tapping screws, cut the plywood to size and put it back together. Entire project took about 30 mins once we got the parts. I wished I took pics the project would make a great how too, but I just thought they didnt finish our couch and we we're an oops.

Hoping to revive an old thread, but has anyone just removed the sofas altogether? We were thinking about removing both sofas and turning those spots into a regular [flat] bed/mattress just like the upper bunks.

It seems like it would reduce weight and be far more comfortable than the awkward angles and inconsistent sleeping area:
