Trailer leveling tips

Where is the best spot on your trailer to use as a leveling point? Also what type of levels does everyone recommend?

Well, I use the fridge as my leveling point. Seems the fridge is very sensitive to being level. I have a 12" torpedo level and place it on the shelf on top of the crisper (I thinks it's glass). I level from side to side first centring the bubble as best I can, then front to back after I get unhooked from the TV. All of this before I put the slide out.

OK you engineers out there out there..my wife and I have had this discussion...does it matter where you set the level?

This what I did---
When I had my rig in the shed on a level cement floor, I leveled the frame, compared it to the frig, all was within my acceptable tolerances. Then I attached bubble levels on the front and on the side. When we set up that is what I go by.
I try to set a little higher in front. Two reasons--water will run off a little better, plus I like to have my head higher then my feet when sleeping.

They use to tell us how important it was to make sure the frig was level. Well it is, but not so much as they use to state. Think about it---you travel all day. Up hill, down hill, and around all those curves. When you get set up at the end of the day your frig is working just fine. Right?

I believe the advice for level fridge is for when you are stationary. Travel up and down hills only generally takes minutes. The burner heats the ammonia to circulate if the fridge is not close to level the fluid starts to scale
I also use bubble levels front and side of trailer and also keep one in the fridge
You can also pre cool your fridge at home before travel and leave propane off it will hold temp for quite some time. That will vary according to ambient temps

I did the exact same thing as Lloyd....level the rig based on floor and fridge, installed bubble levels on the pinbox and has worked for years.....I do ensure I have leveled to at least within 1/2 bubble.

I use a 3 foot level on the floor in front of the door. Seems to work good. I have checked other places on the camper in case the floor isn't level, but all has been good

For the side-side I have a large bubble level that was calibrated on a level concrete floor at the dealer. It is mounted on the neck of the hitch and visible from in the cab so when I pull/back into a spot I can tell how much side to side leveling is needed. A short line is 1" and a long line 2". I checked the fridge when I got the trailer and found the opening for the left basement door thru is the same so I use a 2' level which is stored in the left side where the electric jack controls are.

Level front to back as I go into the spot and side to side after unhooking from the truck using the front landing gear. Put down the rear jack and then run out the slides.

With my Intelli-jacks system, it automatically levels front to back, (after you set it up.)

Side to side I use the 2' level across the lip of my front slam latch. Which is the same as the side to side of the frame.

I have a magnetic 12" level that I attach to the frame in the basement area. My thinking is that is the 'foundation' of our 'home'. It's also convenient for me to see when I use my front landing gear.

Hey Cliff , I think you may have got the 'front to back' and 'side to side' mixed up here.
Its hard to level front to back while still hooked up ...lol.

And even harder to level side to side uncooked.

I scribble levels on my A frame for front to back and one in the center of the front wall by the light. I also carry a 12" level in the trailer and will do a quick check on my counter. I have learned to leave slide side high knowing that putting the slide out generally changes my level by a half bubble. You will learn tricks like this as you get used to it. Just like you will learn exactly how many lynx blocks (boards or whatever you use to level side to side) you need to use to bring your bubble to center.

I hate auto correct!!!! That was supposed to be unhooked not uncooked. And I have bubble levels not I scribble levels. Grrr.
