Just wanted to vent a bit. We got our new travel trailer one month ago. We've only stayed in it one night. Our storage area was hit over the weekend. Eight 5th wheel/trailers were hit. The thieves broke windows and entered the rv. They focused on electonics. Our trailer was in a covered storage area and several of the trailers were in a locked garaged area. The thieves actually tore open the side of the building and entered the garage. We had two windows broken out, one in the entry door and our little kitchen window in our passenger side slide. Amazing that they thought they could break the window in the slide and reach in and open the entry door. Surprise, the wall to the slide prevented them from doing that. They then probably broke the entry door window. Our trailer has the tv that swivels from the living room to the bedroom. The thieves couldn't figure out how to get the tv out. We essentially lost a couple of cheap dvds and that was it. We had removed our battery so they couldn't open the slides to get to anything else. Our neighbors in the storage area weren't so lucky. Most of them lost all of their electronics. One person lost two electric lazyboy recliners valued at $1600 each. I would love to have just 5 minutes with one of these SOB's! I guess it is a sign of the times. The sheriff said that there had been three rv storage areas hit in just 7 days in our area. As I said, just wanted to express my anger at these low life deadbeats!

Shows that there are low lifes lurking everywhere. Seems like they were really desperate to break in. Hope everything broken is covered by insurance without a hassle. Best of luck to you.

Sorry to hear this. The way I look at it, it will catch up to them in the end. This same type of thing happened at our RV storage, but they were only interested in the awnings.

I was told by a service rep. at Berryland RV that most all camper keys are the same, he sells Cardinals and I have a Redwood. He didn't need my keys to get in anything. He said most people in Federal and State Parks are honest.

Sorry about the break in. I'm glad we haven't needed public storage for years. Campgrounds are usually safe but long term storage seems to be targeted. Years ago when we used long term storage the owner told us to chain and lock our propane tanks. Thieves were stealing them for use in drug labs - go figure. These stories always anger me.

These type of incidents always leave you feeling violated. Expressing your anger does help a little. Unfortunatly there are creeps everywhere sorry they got to you.

Bummer. We store our unit on the campground lot.
I've wondered if outside/public storage areas are a more-likely target since many trailers are stored in a confined area.I'd like to think it is more secure at the campground since you cannot drive back without cutting thru a farm field.
Good luck with getting it all fixed. At least it was stored in a covered area (versus broken windows outside).

I guess I'd have to question where you're storing your trailer.A place where thieves can break multiple windows and literally tear a building apart w/o anyone noticing sounds pretty desolate to me.
I hope you're looking for another spot much more secure than this.

I remember when I did my PDI that one of guys reached in his pocket and used a key to unlock one of the storage bays. I asked him if that was another set of keys and he said it was a "master key" that fit every TT on the lot. I think the locks are more for the "honest" people rather than the scum who break your stuff to get what they want. I hate a damn thief!

Maybe we should educate the thieves about things like ch751 keys and master keys so they can quit breaking trailers when they want to steal stuff.

Since the theives weren't able to get our tv or anything else for that matter, I wished that we had left our door unlocked! We would still have our windows!

Unforunately, we have limited storage facilities available here in Wichita. I contacted a facility yesterday that looks very secure. They have good fencing, lighting and security cameras. They are full andhave a two page waiting list! I think someone with investment dollars could really do well with a large, secure storage facility in our area. We have two major lakes close to the city so almost everyone in Wichita owns a boat and rv. The facility we were at before this latest one had a tenant that was stealing items from other tenants! Very frustrating.

Have you checked to see if there are any farmers/people who live in the country that might have a building they can or do rent out for storage? I use to rent storage for boats and RVs at our old place and also here at our present place. Places like mine are pretty secure because normally the owner lives right there on the place. Maybe I should knock on wood , in the 25 years we rented outstorage, we never had a problem.
Just thought it might give you another option.
