2016 Northeast rally

I have read your posts about retirement . there is nothing like it if you can find something to do to keep busy. Tommy, I know what you are talking about as far as the winter . I was the same way until I checked out an add to do volunteer work at our local nursing home . I enjoy when Tuesdays roll around . I do my volunteer work and Carol gets to have a day to herself and do what ever she wants to do . I have my music to keep busy, whether performing at local assisted living facilities or going to the family room and listen to music and play along with the accordion.

I am sure there are volunteer opportunities in your area . you may want to check that out . will be seeing all the folks in May . leaving for a trip next Monday to the outter banks . meeting Carol's brother and his wife for some time together . c ya in May.

Thanks Gary, I will have to look into doing something for sure...

Yes the salmon is good with me...Rosie was thinking of doing those little potato roll sandwiches she did for the wine and cheese last October...She also said she would do her meatballs and sausage for the dinner...They still seem to go pretty good...

Tommy, a lot of my time is spent helping my brothers and friends with computer and cell phone repairs and service. I look at it as providing a volunteer service for those that struggle with tech devices. In fact, I'm working on a friends cell phone now and on another laptop that needs maintenance and virus updates. To each their own. And of course I still have the Dunkin Donuts funky bunch a few days a week.

Add a gray beard, and gray hair instead of blond hair... It's like I was looking in a mirror...

I retired 2.5 yrs ago, and since I'm fairly young (not old), I felt I still wanted to be of service to others. A year ago we moved to a mountain community that is 25 minutes minimum from amenities and fire/medical service. We organized a dozen volunteers that joined CERT in our county for disaster response, and took it a step further in training for advanced first aid. We will be responding to medical calls in our area until fire/paramedic arrive. Hopefully this will help those that are injured and save an occasional life. Luckily were getting a couple AED's and medical equipment kits.

Of course I made sure I could still take time off to travel a few times a year...

Happy Spring everyone (or is it, dang cold stuff hanging around). Glad to know that the Northeast family and other Crossroads members made it through the winter. I love retirement, been retired since 2005 and no regrets. Although I don't go south for the winter, I find lots to do inside the homestead doing my favorite hobby making one of a kind cards and paper flowers. Along with the crafts I love HSN and craft month with specials, sshhhh! don't tell, lol.

The MH will be going in for inspection and bath the end of this month. Then we can de-winterize after I have jury duty (yes jury duty) I'm so lucky (not)

Can't wait to see everyone and I haven't decided on what I will be making for the rally.

Happy Days are coming!!

Tommy.....what I was indicating is that no matter how long the honey-do lists gets, or getting bored, or working doing whatever just to stay busy....maybe I should stay at work and get real pay....but that is not going to happen....our trip ( out west is just over the horizon) is going to happen if I live long enough....already planning and preparing...and I will take care of work as long as I am there....but after that....someone else will take the bull by the horns and keep on gettin it....already preparing someone for that too......not to wish my life away but it's only 2 years and 24 days...and maybe 1 year 268 days....see everyone soon.....

Stan, retirement is what you make it. I missed work, or should I say my fellow teachers, quite awhile. Then, the little projects started to popup, grandchildren needing babysitting and just plain relaxing and camping. It's the freedom to do what you want to do anytime you want to do it. It's great for us.
