Oh my, after all of you being so very nice and welcoming us into the fold, we have to bow out for this weekend. We made reservations, etc. but due to a medical issue, Larry cannot travel. We had planned some winter trips south but all of that is also on hold.

We are definitely planning on the Spring event and hope nothing gets in the way, especially medical related.

I agree, as usual we had a great rally. Rick, Joe, Aileen & Anthony, all the smoked food was great, along with all the side dishes that everyone prepared. Can never say enough about seeing all our camping friends, great people, great fun.

Stan
Excellent job as usual. You make being wagon master look easy!!!

To all our woman members. We all know who makes most of the food that we enjoy at these rallies, so here is a shout out to all our woman, GREAT JOB GALS.

Larry & Jean, Scott & Dawn, Sorry you couldn't make it, hope things get better for you all.

See everyone in the spring at the NCR (Northeast Crossroads Rally)

well, just got home and unloaded. It was fun trying to get to the house around a court full of cars. Apparently one of the neighbors had a party. Cars were double parked around the court. I had to back it the whole wAy down the court and around the cars into the driveway where it will stay until the party is over. of course I had an audience from the party too. Anthony did a great job running around watching the cars on all sides/corners.

Anyways what a great rally. We had a blast as usual. Thank you everyone for Jocelyn's presents, you really didn't have to do that. She is sitting next to me eating smarties as I type. The food and company were excellent as usual. I will post some pics later. See everyone in May at the NE rally.

for those that didn't get to see it, here was Nancy's news interview Got some nice shots of our SOB's in there. I also saw lots of familiar faces in the background including our loyal wagon master and Jocelyn sprinting across the screen.Edited by: anaro

The rally by the numbers. (Totally useless but fun facts).

We had 10 rigs total. This is the various ways it broke down.

8 were 5ers
2 were TT's
6 were cruiser 5ers.
1 was a Zinger TT
3 were SOBs---- 1 Montana 5 er, 1 Blue Ridge 5er, and 1 coachman TT.

We had 6 Ford pickups
2 GMC pickups
1 Chevy pickup
1 Chevy SUV

Of the pickups, 5 were maroon, 2 were grey, and 2 were blue

We had 20 people, of which 19 were supposedly adults and 1 child who now believes she has a ton of new grandparents, aunts and uncles. We also had 7 dogs and 1 cat.

More beer and wine than I can count

and way too much food to eat.

Fun times had by all priceless.

x2 on that Rick. We have had some very heavy rain here today. Hope everyone is safe going home. Also was that Tony that drove over the pole yesterday? Any damage to his truck? Did it knock everyone's power out? I hope everything turned out ok with that.

Cruising NZ- glad to hear we can entertain you guys. thanks for the well wishes.Edited by: anaro

several people have asked for the recipe to my rib rub. I found it in taste of the south magazine, BBQ issue. Here it is:

Sweet and Smoky Rub

1/4 cup kosher salt
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup smoked paprika
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons ground black pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon dry mustard
2 teaspoons celery salt
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons dried thyme

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 month. Will cover approximately 5 lbs country ribs or 1-2 racks spare ribs.

Take your cut of meat (ribs, shoulder, butt etc), rub regular yellow mustard all over it, then rub the rub into the mustard and meat. Rub brown sugar on top. Wrap in plastic wrap and let marinate for 12-48 hrs. longer end of this is better. Lots of juices will form. Save these to cook in the pan with meat when it is time to cook covered on the smoker. We mix these juices with apple juice. We also put apple juice in the water pan when smoking. We use hickory charcoal and mainly Apple wood chips as well as some hickory wood chips. if you desire you can add some sauce to eat but the ones I served had no sauce, only the rub as described. Enjoy!Edited by: anaro

Finally got home about 10pm. Dropped Susan off in Baltimore at our Daughters house. The traffic was insane. What should have been about 3 1/2 hours turned into 5. Walt enjoyed the rain this morning. Reminded him about floating in a boat except it was his rv.
Seemed like a great time by all. Susan and I are looking forward to next years rally and of course the NE rally. One of the best camping times Susan and I had in a long time.
Hope everyone got home safe. Cheers to a great rally.

Rick, grilled lettuce is right up there with vegan chili and non alcoholic beer.
