happycampers, I have to ask. What is so special about the Barrie KOA ? We live 50 km north of Barrie and know of several people who like to camp there. I have always thought of KOA's as being a quick stop over for a night, never as a destination. Am I missing something here?

to be honest, I like the cookstown KOA much better. Were only staying here because we went to Burls creek today. I don't think there is anything overly special, just the convenience and amenities that KOA provides. But I do like Cookstown KOA better, it seems the grounds are taken care of better, theres green grass on the site as opposed to here where our site is mud right now from the rain. But I can't complain, I could to the rear section where every site has concrete pads, landscaping and patio furniture... but I don't want to pay 90 bucks a night.
Maybe the biggest reason we prefer KOA is they can accomodate a unit our size. Some provincial parks and private parks its difficult manouvering through.

KOA's do tend to be expensive, I agree with Ruck. We have one a few miles from where my wife works so we went there for a week for our "full hookup shakedown." Everything was first class, but the rates should be lower when you cannot use the pool and other amenites, IMHO. While the pads were crushed stone, the owner came through with a tractor and pull behind spraying system just as wide as the pads and sprayed Roundup on them to keep weeds down. The lawns were well manicured and the grass was green, and while the whole 100 or so spots were pull-through, there was not a lot of extra space between us for what I feel we paid. But, in a pinch I will use them again, but not if there is something else available. JMO

Seen a Cruiser up around Madison, WI on I-90/94 last week heading North West. Seen a Cruiser today on I-80/94 near the Indiana/Illinois border, eastbound lane on the side of road with a blown tire. I hope you were all okay and were able to resume your travels....
