Tommy/Cliff/Lloyd,
After knowing what we go through hauling our rigs around I have earned a great deal of respect for OTR drivers. I normally always travel the speed limit or a little lower, so when a big rig passes me I always let them know when it's okay to come back in. More often then not they show their appreciation. It's the least we can do.

Travel well,
Jim

I hear ya..

We travel with my 12 year old lab in the back seat. If I slam on the brakes too hard, I'll have a dog flying around!

Seriously, you should have a seat belt on your dog, for the dogs' safety and yours. Seen some friends dogs injured when they came to a sudden stop.

I know about the "pull in and slam on the brakes drivers". If I had kept driving I probably would have added a dash-cam. I always drive defensively, then and now. I wasn't in a hurry then and I'm dern sure not now.....

Yes sir officer, would you like to see why his back bumper is in the back seat? Wouldn't make points with his insurance either.

Look up some of the dash-cam videos made in Europe, it's hilarious.

Actually a Study done in 2011 by the center for pet safety showed a 100% failure rate of doggie seatbelts. They appeared to be more of a detriment than a safety restraint.

X2 Aileen. The only positive reviews I found when researching this were "customer reviews" on the manufacturer sites. I drive defensively and hope my decision not to "belt" my dogs is never challenged.

I had my CDL many years ago. My son currently drives OTR. Truckers have always been professional. Has changed some since then though. I always flash my lights for the big rigs and found they will mostly do it for you when pulling the TT. It is the inconsiderate cars and trucks you have to watch for.

I don't use doggie seatbelts. I either use a mesh harness with a short strap attached to it with the seatbelt running through the strap, or I use a carrier with the seatbelt running through its handle.

The carrier for our cat has a seatbelt attach built in.

My Yorkie sits on my head going down the road, if she decides to be still.

Sleepy T, I hear ya'. Having been a road warrior for over 30yrs, it is amazing how vehicles get from pt a to pt b anymore. When I started driving, common sense when it came to tractor trailer driving and 4 wheelers was understood for the most part....with the exception of rush hour. One of the reasons I gave it up was the total lack of respect for the other drivers I came across. Too bad too....half the fun was the scenery, now you don't dare take your eyes off the drivers around you.

Yes that was my point. There seems to be MUCH LESS common courtesy in our society in general and that translates to the road.

I just completed my first big trip with the new TT. 2500 miles for spring break. My next modification is going to be an air horn.

Love the air horn idea, great idea and I too could of used one on our spring break trip, but I prolly would of needed a 50 gallon air compressor to keep up with the demand.

I've been thinking about the train horn mod. See if that makes them change their pants after pulling out in front of the rig.
