Drove from Davenport IA to Cleveland OH.

I was surprised to see three trailers with blown tires and one hub failure. I feel sorry for the guy that had the missing hub. Went by to quick to see more but the hub was not on the axle. All of these was on I-80 in Indiana and Ohio. The turnpike there is 70 mph. Hope none of them were from here.

Is this a common seen on the road? I saw a couple 18 wheelers with blown tires too.

I think if you drive over 60mph you are asking for trouble. JMHO

Most travel trailer stock tires are rated for 65 max. 60 is the fastest I'll go until I upgrade my trailer tires.

Jim Tator is correct. I was just at the factory rally this past July and the question was asked about speed, and blow-outs. The Rep from Lippert said that the trailer tires are rated for 62 MPH. So if you are driving faster than 62 MPH you are rolling the dice.

As far as 18 wheelers are concerned, most of their tires are RECAPS. The only tires that can not be recaped is the tires they turn with (front tires).

I must say with a 70 mph speed limit most were going with the traffic. I was in a company vehicle and not pulling my tt. I bet some were doing 75+. But when I crossed in to Illinois on my last camping trip I was guilty myself.

Jake
As I said I was just at the factory rally in July. I live in Pa. so I traveled I80 through Pennsylvania, Ohio and a good part of Indiana. I did 60 MPH in the right lane the whole way, while other vehicles were speeding by me in the left lane. Was it a little TEDIOUS yes it was, but on the other hand I did NOT have to pay for or fix the damage that a blow-out can cause..

Yes I understand that. I guess before I bought this one I never gave that any thought. I just get nervous when all the 18 wheelers and large buses pass.
Thanks for the input.

IL 57 South of Mt Vernon will beat you to death in the right lane. Especially the slow lane between Cairo and Marion. Not the place to speed either. In So IL the police don't play. You will get a ticket.
