Helping a fellow camper

While camping at the Outer Banks of NC last week we had met a nice couple from Canada that we're camped beside of us for two weeks. Three days before we left his starter went out on his Ford 450 and the only starter available was a three hour drive round trip from the campground. I volunteered to take him to pickup the starter. He was so thankful and kept apologizing for taking up my time. I told him that's what campers do is look out for each other and he can help someone else in the future. Starter was replaced and was working great when we left. That's what it's all about. Pay it forward.

That's a great story. Campers always seem willing to help each other.

Ted, you are what fellow campers are all about!

Now, if I could just get you to drive up here and give me some instructions on shaking a gold pan.

Outstanding, that is one of the things that drew my wife and me to the camping culture...I have been able to lend water hoses and extention cords to neighbor campers from time to time, but a 6 hour road trip, my hat is off to you...I hope it stays that way and does not adopt the "Yeah me & Screw you " culture that seems to be taking over our country these days...

Nice job Ted...once a public servant, always a public servant. That's what it's all about. I also am worried about the new generations with the "me first" attitude.

Well I wasn't posting the story to get any praise although I do appreciate all the comments. I was just wanting to remind everyone especially the younger generation ( not that I'm old at 52) and the new campers (well I guess the old grouchy ones too; LOL) that we need to help each other without expecting anything in return. I believe it's just the right thing to do.

Agree -
my Dad told me many moons ago...
If you do a favor for someone and expect something back,
it's no longer a favor, it's a debt !
