You may already be familiar with it, but I've had good luck using www.campgroundreviews.com.

When we did our tour of the Great Lakes last year we stayed at Munising Tourist Park Campground in Munising, MI. We were backed up right to Lake Superior. Then we stayed at Mill Creek Campground in Mackinaw City, MI. Again we were right across from Lake Huron. The next stop was Frankenmuth Jellystone Park in Frankenmuth, MI. No lake this time, but we were across the street from Bronner's Christmas Shop and a short ride (1/4 mile)to their German Village. The rest of the 3 week trip was through PA, IN, IL and WI to see Lake Michigan and Lake Erie. Looking forward to going back to MI again but this time stay on the along the western side going up to the UP and Mackinaw City.

Chris,

Depending on where you are going, our friends the Hatfield's recommended Mackinaw Mill Creek, which is just east of the Mackinaw bridge. We plan on heading up there eventually to check it out and go out to the island. Looked nice online!

Higgins state park is really nice. The south end park. Really nice beach area. Another favorite of mine is Hills and Hollow in Pentwater. Very close to Lk Michigan beach's. Another beauty is Tawas state park right on Lk Huron.

MICHIGAN, west side

If you're going to be on the west side, looking for sand dunes, lighthouse , water, ect., this is the place. Fabulous facility.

Chris, just a reminder, they have a silverlake up there. The trouble is a guy named Jason sometimes stops by there. Its SilverCreek for me.

Southern West side of MI. Warren dunes state park. Really neat place. You can sled down the sand dunes.

Done, just made reservations at silverlake rv park, that place is a popular place to go camping, no weekends free in August so were going through the week. The video of the campground looks really nice. thanks again for the info.
