storm damage

The campground we usually stay in each fall was closed this year due to heavy rains and a terrific wind that went thru and leveled everything in it's path. Trees were either uprooted or snapped off. Some as high as 30 ft. up, others at ground level.
We did stay in a different campground about 20 miles or so further away that didn't have any damage.
Here is a picture of the little lake the campground is at where we usually stay. I was standing on the bridge/dam going into the campground.

Last three pictures was taken in the campground showing some of the sites with the trees down. They had already went in and cleaned up a lot of it, tops cut out and a lot of the limbing was done and cleaned up.
There was three rigs in there at the time, including the host. Nobody hurt.
The roads/fire lanes were all blocked. It took quite awhile before they were able to get the people out.
Glad we weren't there!!

Sometimes we campers feel bulletproof, but that is a stark reminder of just how serious severe storms could be if you try to ride them out in a camper. One of those smaller trees falling on a house would damage the house. One of them falling on a travel trailer could possibly mean a fatality.

This is why we decided not to go to Tennessee on our way home and head straight home instead. We are not interested in possible tornadoes or damaging hail.

It's been a stormy evening here in western Middle Tennessee. A tornado tracked just west of us a little bit ago. We've spent time in the basement this afternoon, and we don't usually go down there unless the storms are really nasty. You made a good choice not to come to Tennessee today, at least.

Lloyd
Is that a family owned campground or corporate. If corporate it is easier for them to recover from storms like that, much harder for family owned...

National Forest... With the way the government is now that could be a toss-up whether it gets restored or not...
