Strawberries

It has been a week of strawberry short cake every night for supper. We have been freezing, eating, and giving some to the kids and neighbor.
Oh, did I mention strawberry short cake for supper for the last week?
Finally put a sign out by the road a couple days ago and started selling them.

They look nice! Our strawberry season down here in NC wasn't that good this year; way too much rain. For some reason I thought you lived down south so I was curious that you still had strawberries. But I see your in Wisconsin, so, never mind.

Ted, you and Tommy are invited for supper tonight. Barb said she would make a couple more batches of baking powder biscuits to go with the strawberries.

I bought some strawberries last week from Sam's Club, but they didn't look as good as yours.

Lloyd, how big of a patch do you have to yield that much? We have 6x4 bed and this is the 3rd year, and its finally producing. About a big bowl every 3rd day. The girls love it. My eldest just informed me she is going to turn into a strawberry if she keeps eating them.

I bought 25 plants initially. Put them in 3, 4X6 ft. beds. Really it was to many plants in that area. Last year I experimented and tried potting some of the runners. I ended up with 25 more plants which I placed in 2 new rows in the garden. I'm being over run with berries this year. I have picked 15 gals. so far.
Still not done.

wow, we only had 2? plants so the first years were runners and root growth. I was surprised how much strawberries spread. Almost as bad as mint, the difference being i don't need a lot of mint in my life, strawberries are much more useful.
