The perils of camping

So... we are fulltiming again and we all love it, most of it anyways. The other day Nan, the Kids (dogs) and I took a walk and played fetch with the ball. We found a yellow jacket nest. The dogs are crying and covered and I can't stand it so I go in to get them out. Well we got them out but in the process I get 17 stings and the dogs get a whole bunch as well. Niya jumps if you touch her and runs under the couch, it's actually funny now but oh the inhumanity of it. Those Yellow Jackets are going DOWN!

I got stung once as a kid...that was enough. I can't imagine 17 stings. That would prob send me into shock!

I'm laughing and cringing at the same time. Dogs are so lovable, loyal...and get into so much dumb trouble! I don't think I could have taken 17 stings. I'd be the one cowering under the couch.

I got stung on the toung last week while camping, Bee was in my drink. I ussualy swell real bad and was very nervous about it. I guess it was a good thing it was an adult beverage because it never got to bad. I did talk a little funy for an hour or so.

Thanks Don, sorry to hear about your sting. I'm not so sure it's woking out though it takes a long time for the sting sores to heal because they itch so bad, not a problem for the dogs though, darn dogs.... Oh well just another day on the sunny beach of life.

Okay, two quick yellow jacket tales (yjt's.) When I was a kid I was messing around at the bottom of a canyon with my brother and a couple of other guys. I decided to rest on top of an old stone wall and set right down on the enterance to a hive. I only got stung once, but my brother was nailed several times - after he called me a chicken for running. I would have laughed back at him, but he could kick my butt, so I settled for a silent "hee-hee."



Years later I'm at my parents home cutting down trees with a chain saw. My father was cutting one down, and my brother in-law was cutting another one down, so I decided on one at the edge of a raspberry thicket. As soon as I started to cut into it, out come the yellow jackets - and they weren't very pleased with the situation. Once again I ran for the hills which, of course was observed by my father and brother-in-law. Well, they called me chicken, and decided to show me "how it's done." They both were stung numerous times, and all three chain saws were left running until they ran out of gas. This time I DID laugh!

I believe that these wasps are even more a hazard than "mailboxes"!!!
I'm glad no one had any real reactions to these beast!!

OK so I'm trying to decide if the yellow jackets are worse than the japanese beetles! You knoe the orange lady bugs. Man when they hatch they re everywhere and they bite! I'm thinking of becoming a chemecial engineer so I can mix up a concoction to get rid of both.
