Edit: Hint for ford owners, if campground is on a hill do not try and back up hill to put trailer on site. Thats when the tranny's let go!!

heat is a real problem with these transmissions. after a long drive they could have let their trucks cool just a little before pushing it backwards uphill. you can also not lock the font hubs and put the transfer case into 4w low and that would give you 2 w low. its much easier to back up a steep hill.

now back to buissness...when is dodge going to make a real four door truck. the back doors are thr size of ford and chevys extra cab doors.

I think that I recall a Dodge owner saying, that the only thing wrong with his Cummins diesel, was that it's bolted to a Dodge. Edited by: Hamops

It tough to be humble when you drive a dodge. The true Crew Cab will be out in 2010 with the new HD design

Lets' add some gasoline to the flames!!!

I found my truck...

A 2006 Chevy HD 3500 / 6.6 Duramax, Allison 6 speed automatic - 8 foot bed with 39,000 miles on it.

I have the HD 2500 in 6.0 gas but would love to haul the 32 foot zinger with this hunk of lovin, haulin chevy love!

Any Owners of the mentioned and pictured truck want to give details on wear and tear and little repair?

Dodge and Ford guys...need not get excited...this is the first one I found that I could afford.

All ive done is put brakes and diesel in my baby. We did a lot of lookin when we bought our truck. I liked the styling of the dodge and the ride of the fords are pretty remarkable but when it came down to it niether had the allison tranny so that was our deciding factor.I believe the best of all worlds would have to be a Ford with a ram hood a cummins engine and an allison tranny but i havent seen one yet!!!!!So the BOWTIE is all thats left when you want to get dressed up!!! LOL

We currently run a GMC 2500 with a Duramax and Allison trany. Works good although haven't done much extreme pulling with it yet. Has lots of power and handles our Seville really well on the flat and on minor hills. Our son has had 3 Chevs (back to 05) with Duramax engines and the only trouble that seems prevelant in these vehicles is the transmission cooler lines that leak in extreme cold weather. I think as long as you are running them in warmer climes then they perform well.

And by the way, we used to run a 7.3 Ford (still have it) and it performed very admirably over the years. No major problems on it yet either. The ford has more room in it for me and my stuff than the GM, although the GM has a few more creature comforts (it is 6 years newer as well). Guess I am still a Ford man at heart but had to lower myself to a GM for a while. (Now that is what I call a Depression!)

Good luck with the new truck!
